Gear sound or something else?

My car makes a whining noise while driving/accelerating that is quite similar to what we hear while speeding in the reverse gear. Sound is quite visible in lower gears while accelerating or releasing the gas pedal. A mechanic said this is sound of gear and you can't do anything about it. What are your thoughts on this? Car is 2006 model.

Cultus Carby 2006. I discussed with you last time. You had mentioned to check wheel bearings. I got them checked wheels bearings are not making any such sound.
