Lets get things in proper proportion before we all get a bit too emotional.. as we do quite often..
First of all, chuck this very delusional complex out of your head that someone is jealous of your country's progression in the auto-industry.. For a country with its population running well into the billions, its no wonder then, that business (not just auto industry, but across the board) is doing good there with more foreign investment pouring in to tap into the high growth market to seize their share.. so thats a given
Secondly, I'd advise you to do some research before you spread baloney and misinformation over the forums.. for starters, cars in pakistan are not "stratospherically" priced, but contrary to the general belief, they in fact are priced lower than your market.. to prove my point, consider the following pricing structures of the indian and the pakistani markets for the top specced Corolla and Civic respectively..
Indian Corolla 1.8VL = INR1,383,730 ; translates into US$29,925 @46.24
Pakistani Corolla 1.8 Altis AT SR = PKR1,869,000 ; translates into US$22,064 @84.71
Indian Civic 1.8V AT = INR 1,440,000 (add upto INR88,576 for the inspire grade) ; translates into US$31,141 @46.24
Pakistani Civic VTi Oriel Prosmatec = PKR 1,869,000 ; translates into US$22,064 @84.71
So effectively,
Indian Corolla 1.8VL = US$29,925
Pakistani Corolla 1.8 Altis AT SR = US$22,064
Difference = Indians paying US$7,861 more on every single unit..
Indian Civic 1.8V AT = US$31,141
Pakistani Civic VTi Oriel Prosmatec = US$22,064
Difference = Indians paying US$9,077 more on every single unit (that too, not factoring in the extra they have to pay for the upmarket grade)
Now who's paying "stratospheric" prices for their cars.. again?
Note: The prices are taken from their corresponding websites, and they - along with the exchange rates - might not be up to date, but you get the general idea..
This IG is cute but it's a concept and we shall see whan it makes it's presence on the road, shall we?.How many years from now, i wonder?. Till then, hootie tootie....
By 2012 it will have hit the roads, and by 2015, a hybrid will have also been thrown into the mix...
For once, lets not be too obsessed and overprotective about the stuff that we use to spruik.. being objective is one of the attributes of a true gentleman.. there's nothing personal on such public forums. I considered Adam Revo as crappy as the tata Nano, if not any crappier (and I dont even give a rat's a$$ if that would offend some touchy feely soul for that matter) .. so lets just not cry foul every time someone speaks against your beloved Nano (acting ones age helps ) and lets take discerning views in a positive manner while trying to accept them.. the more you guys become unreasonably protective about something, the more you can expect a beating from people like me..
