General Engine overhaul cost - Kia Classic 2001

How much it cost to general overhaul engine of Kia Classic 2001. Experts please advise. Thanks

why you want to overhaul the engine? is there any problem you facing?

Thanks zxmco125: The mechanic told me that the engine is week. A sound come out of the engine which he says is lose crank shaft. Although I check that there is no oil burning but in the mornining see some smoke come out of the silencer. After driving15-20 km, I opened the engine oil cap and could not find any blow. The only thing bother me is sould just like diesel engine. I am curious if realy I have to go for engine overhaul what will cost me. If you have good know-how of engine, your comments will be realy helpful for me.. Thanks

well. I have a kia classic with me for last three. the sound of engine of my car is also sounds like a diesel engine.

first of all what is the colour of smoke which is came out from sliencer (white or black).

If it is white than engine need the overhaull.

if the smoke colour is black it needs the adjustment and tuning from a good mechanic.

aref: Any idea of the cost of spectra engine? This is second car and I don't want to spend lot of money on it. I will evaluate the cost and if it is out of my range I may sell the car. But one thing for sure I will go for another Kia with good engine.

not an idea right now about overhauling. well as you said about the diesel sound the sound is same of my car's engine. but no smoke.

is there any possibility to swap engine with spectra's engine in kia classic?

^^ Not sure about the swap as the Spectra's engine is larger (1.5) and the thing would seriously weigh the front down unless theres a change in the suspension at the front. Spectra (Saqib bhai) would be able to give you a better idea about it.

Regardless, Im gonna ask about my mechanic about overhaul costs etc as I've seen him overhaul a Classic's engine recently (not mine :P). I'll let you know about it as soon as I get more info. Besides which, I think the Classic's engine itself has a great amount of thrust since its a 1323CC engine. Usage with petrol, removal of CNG Cylinders and optimum tuning should get that wolf running like anything as I get a good amount of thrust with the CNG cylinders and at CNG already. With petrol, the thing has been great!

I prefer you to sale off this car! because No more orignal parts available in market! although you can do overhauling using non-genuine parts!

Dont ever think to install Spectra's engine! into Classic because its performance worst than Classic Engine

I rough estimate by someone i know that was purely based on speculation was around 30,000/- (+/-) 5,000/-

I would not say it is the actual cost, but it should be round about that mark.

@khuldun: YOu are driving Kia since last 5-6 years; travelling a lot but seems your car's engine is running smoothly. No overhaul as yet. It looks you take care quite nicely. I bought my car couple of months ago but previous owner behaved it like step monther. That's the reason it's engine need some attention. 30,000 is good amount. I may be re-think to spend. I might sell this one and look for another good kia. (engine wise)

Alhamdullilah my car is in great shape. Partly because of the fact that it has been only in my use since it was bought brand new and also because i take alot of care of it. Wash it myself in and out 2 times a week, get the oil/air filters and motor oil changed every 3000kms, get it tuned, aligned and balanced every 6 months and also run it as neatly as possible. I believe that one should enjoy the drive of the car rather than use it to race to another place Also, when you know your dad works his ass out to provide you with necessities of life, one should respect and regard the hard earned Halal income

As far as cost is concerned, like i said, its a estimate, a wild estimate to be precise. It may be less than that, i am not sure, you need to visit a mechanic for the final verdict. You may change the Kia but as far as i know, i am so much used to my car and know it in and out that i feel comfortable with it and if there is an issue i get it resolved. So you might want to try the overhaul you existing car. But thats just me, you should go ahead with watever you feel comfortable with
