Generator advice - 50 kva

dear guys i need to buy a 50 kva generator for work.

Please advise me the best brand to go for.

p.s. I am not in favor of Chinese generator sets..

You have many choices. Cummins (Perkins), Kohler, FW, Lister Petter, Catterpillar etc. I recently Installed one at my house after a long survey. All of the names I mentioned are giants in Genset Business internationally. However, I somehow settled for Lister Petter (made in UK). There are many reasons why I preferred it over all other main one being fuel efficient. I can further guide you if you wish.

Cummins is a really nice machine too as pointed out by @btcf but I think there made in China now + they are a bit expensive initially as well as on fuel. Its just my opinion based on thorough research and anyone has the right to ddiffer

200kva is cost roughly ~20lacs or so, so from that I came to the conclusion that 50 should be no more than 10lacs...I'm talking about chinese cummins generator...

the price of smaller generators like 5-20kva is considerably higher per kva compared to bigger generators like 50kva+ due to the higher demand for smaller generators. otherwise you can buy 1000kva for around 1.5crore or so which is around rs.15k/kva compared to what you bought which was around ~50k/kva of capacity.

cummins from china is same thing except cheaper. So why buy from uk when you have same thing from china? same thing from china from reliable brand would cost maybe ~half...

^^Most of the items originally produced in UK are not anymore including top brands. The country manufacturing plants have been closing down since 1990s...All major manufacturers have plants in China including both two companies you had been talking about..

Both Cummins and Perkins failed to provide me the import documents of these engines. However, what I known is that Pana Communications did produce all the documents of import from UK immediately on my request. There was a list of more than 80 lister Petter engines on their import performa. My engine no was also amoung them :P. I will ask for that port clearance custom copy from them whenever I visit them next time.

Ofcourse they would have on papers to dodge the taxman. Most of the operations(if any) would be limited to assembly though..I have uncountable examples of that including major silicon companies as well.

the official website mentions 2 engine plants and one other plant in england, although all the parts are most probably imported from other countries like china, but still ?
I didn't know there were computer chips being made in uk...I thought USA manufactured (as well as designed) the vast majority of silicon products...

Oh no no no. Its not like that. You don't have any idea how customs and FBR operate in pakistan,. I have a first hand thorough experience of importing a lot of pharmaceutical production machinery and raw material for a big pharmaceutical unit in rawat. Main countries of origin were UK, Germany, China and even India through Dubai. The documents I asked from them cannot be prepared at any stage for dodging etc. Its not like that.
