right about 4.30 am today all wires from our kesc transformer short circuited and fell. looks like now the generator will be working for at least 4 hours continuous before they repair it.

May I correct you about the bill calculations:

The first 100 cms or units are equal to 3.34 mmbtu and not 6mmbtu. So first slab amounts to Rs.410.65
Next 200 cms or units are equal to 6.68mmbtu so the amount for next slab is Rs.1642.54

Please make the calculations accordingly.

The mmbtu is given in bill and we distribute it among all units by dividing it by total units for mmbtu per unit
then we mutiply this value by 100 for 1st slab then by 200 for second slab to get mmbtu for that particular range.
I have calculated like this. however i don't know why for every month total mmbtu is different and how do they calculate it. if you can help me.

My May 2012 gas consumption was 459 units and bill was Rs. 8210 @ old rate. On the basis of new reduced rate by sngpl, the same bill will come out to be Rs.4900 approx. I have been using Jiangdong JD 6500 watts which consumes almost 1.5 unit with one 1ton AC and rest house hold load.

I'm interested in making an on/off timer switch for a few of my home appliances where I can switch the appliance on for, say 2 hours, and then keep that appliance switched off for say 12 hours and then switch it back on for 2 hours after staying off for those 12 hours. So essentially it has to be a repeat / cycle timer that would allow me to set it's on and off timers in seconds, minutes and / or hours. An example of such an appliance where I would like to hook up this timer is a water motor, since at times my peon forgets to switch it off after switching it on, so I imagine such a timer would be useful as it would control the switching on and off itself.

Does anyone here know how to build such a timer?

An easier way and ofcourse a better way would be to make the motor automatic. i.e it will automatically turn on when water in the tank is low and turn on when the water is on an acceptable level.

Thanks much for your response. The "water motor" was just an example. I would like to be able to use the timer on other house-hold appliances as well and not just restricted to using it only with my water motor.

yes bro you can use.. such timer relays and circuits are available in the market..
but for keeping your motor off for 12hours and then on for 2 hours..
circuits needs 12vdc without any disturbance in electricity so how u gona do that? because at every main failure it will be reset.

just wanted to ask.. cuz someone was telling me even if i dont consume any ng during that period..
they will still send me long bills as it came into there notice that this particular house is using generator by comparin my bills, and once it came into bill wateva amount they printed .. will have to pay..?
i guess thats all false.. about billing method?i only have to pay watever meter showed?

Yes, they will charge you as per gas meter only. By law, they can not charge you more than your meter readings.However, if there is any violation and penalty, that is some thing different.

Dear, dont opt for getting your meter disconnected for some period coz it will be difficult to get it reconnected as it is in punjab now a days.In punjab, for such situation, the best option is to make arrangement for payment thru some of neighbours or relatives for the bills to come or you can deposit estimated amount in advance into their account.
