Hi guys , If you got overhauled engine than share ur experience
Mention ur car with model. why u needed to get it overhauled ? share ur engine performance (Pick, Consumption, sound) after overhauling vs geniune engine.. wat about total cost of overhauling details. r u satisfied with ur engine's current performance.

I'm sure they differ from car-to-car, you can't expect the overhaul of a Mehran to cost as much as that of a Jaguar Sovreign.

Its not a passion though, its a disease. Passion is always original. Passion is when you watch a video, you find it absolutely amazing, you actually take time to write a couple of phrases about it and then share it with public.

i got my khyber's engine overhauled 1 n half year back..
now its goin good till now 22k kms done..
awesome pick with and without ac...the total cost was 20 k including all charges ie parts n labor etc etc..
the reason of overhaul was blow of engine ...pick with old engine was good ubut one day car suddenly stopped so had to get it overhauled..
the piston size ws increased...mean cultus k pistons dalay thy mechanic ny.
rest was all originaljust piston size was a bit bigger as compared to khyber's rgnl piston size..

i'[v only ever overhauled VW engines and i can assure you that it all depends on the builder. for example, if your engine was rebuilt by shakeel saab,.. then most likely it's better built than it was when it came from the factory. if it was rebuilt by khalid using kabli parts it'll still be as good as as it was from the factory (meaning tolerances).

if the engines are built by some muppet then i expect them to fail very soon.

Well bro, In my opinion, if your mechanic is a reasonable + an expert, you can hardly find differences in an original engine & overhauled engine, just a little bit sound is increased if the engine is not sealed or overhauled engine,

just 2 weeks ago, I have a coure 2004(now its sold), its engine is overhauled after 170k +km, due to a poor oil change, the oil decreased its minimum level & the car badly smoked, before that the car is 100% genuine & it went on a no. of long trips all over Pakistan,
after overhauling the engine, the car was fine again, just like new, it costed 18000 including all genuine parts+oil, pick was just like before,
I was satisfied 2 weeks ago, don't know how its kept nowadays as I sold it on an above market offer:)

A 1999CIVIC engine can be overhauled in 12k,13k by an Anari, while the same engine by an expert will cost minimum 30k+ including parts etc(Its my experience)

i am 100% agreed with u that factor of skills and abilities of mechanic is counts , thats mean we shud not worry while overhaulding and re-building engine by high skilled mechanic as u recommend above.

yes mehnga roye aik baar sasta roye baar baar , so we shud prefer expert than Anari mechanic.

i never overhauled engine just rings and my opinion about the engine of a big car is rather to replace than over haul like my friend spent 45K on his 1.3XE engine and as strom said depends up on builder it was build by" papu kharadiya" and result was after 1200 Kms engine was done for it again so this time he changed it with a 4AFE and now its almost 15000KMs its still running prefect

Can anyone get this confirmed that is cultus having a bigger piston size as compared to Khyber?

agree with Storm... it totally depends upon mechanic.
i have one overhaul on Datsun 120Y. and it was a bad experience due to mechanic. after 1500-2000 kms gasket problem and there was a mixture of oil+water... then DIY the whole thing with my father and after that no single problem.

I recently got my car's engine 2E opened up for rebuild bcoz of oil consumption.

This is what happend.

1 - The Engine pistons were of max size but the rings were small dont know what the previous mechanic did. Pistons and cylinder was fine only needed new rings.

2 - Install good quality TP rings and the type that normaly comes original (Steel Rings)

3 - Changed Water Pump

4 - All seals were changed. (Japanese)

5 - New Valves

6 - All engine foundations were changed to Japanese qabli.

Total Kharcha 18000.

All parts Engine parts were for 8500

Foundations 2600Rs

Kharadia 1600

Mechanic 3500

Oil, 900 Rs.

And other small kharcha.

So i am driving carefully till 500KM, Performance is back i can feel the car's power restored.

U r pretty sure wot u hav put in ur engine from crank 2 thrust,all goes b4 ur syt rather being blind in going 4 a sealed qabli engine.
Here some mechanics r extra genius who can repair same old parts n put back 2 qabli so called SEALD ENGINE.
Better return of ur cash is definitly overhauling by a skilled mechanic in ur presence.

dont know the differance...but m sure they are same..but if diff ..then u need bigger gas kit to adjust the new size....

u r right but i think overhauled engine (good condition) is better than geniune engine (worst condition) , ya complete engine replacement is a better option but bit expensive as compare to existing engine overhauling.

whats the average engine life of the listed cars before requiring first engine overhaul?
1. 800cc - Mehran, Cuore, Chevrolet Exclusive
2. 1000cc - Alto, Cultus, Santro, Chevrolet Joy
3. 1300cc - Corolla, City, Liana,Nissan(also 1.6)
4. 1800cc - Altis, Civic
