I personally hate the orange peel - and it can be avoided while in the booth too, the final coat spray pressure needs to be slightly lower and the spray nozzle is somewhat more dispersed. You can sand it down with 2000 paper to achieve your desired result after a glaze and sealer, but its upto personal opinion.
Good to see that you did your homework to suck the brains out of the paint seller.
btw dont compare the stupid cheap finish that our local honda, toyota assemblers apply - they would even shove out horse poop if they had to. If you want to know paint jobs - just look at what custom coach builders can put out.
