Gilgit Baltistan 2015

For the past 3 years i wanted to go Gilgit Baltistan and every time my plan was to leave after my LLB exams which are held in July and August but every time i was set to go there were always some issue mostly all the friends who committed to go just turned there backs at very last moment and once there was a man sitting on a container blocking whole city and every time i started with Postponing them and eventually cancel my Program. this year there were no exams and i am now working in District courts so its summer vocations in August so my plan was to leave on 1st august but again two out of 3 friends told me they couldn't get permission from there parents so the program was again in jeopardy. I kept delaying it on the hope that they might get permission but it never happened. From 1st aug it went to 9th and from 9 to 14 to 21 to 25 but finally i got the final answer that non of my friends were willing to go and it was a very depressed situation for me. Im planing to move out of country at start of next year so it was my last chance and my mind was so obsessed with going to gilgit that i couldnt think of anything else and couldnt just move on. On the evening of 27 at the mehndi function of my cousin a sudden idea came to my mind to do a solo trip on on 30th after attending the marriage. Next morning called my friend in gilgit and told him that im coming but he discouraged me not to come alone and told me about the hardships of the travelling and the there it is I thought The grapes are sour and i wont ever go to Gilgit. and a hour later Faizan Came to my house and he himself started talking about my program and his senior also expressed his desire to go and the Program was on we decided to Leave next day at night after attending the Walima

To reach Gilgit spend 2 nights there return Home because of very limited funds

What we actually Did

Day 1: 30th Aug: Rawalpindi to Gilgit to Hunza via Karakarm Higway

Day 2: 31st Aug: Hunza to Attabad to Khunjrab and Back to Attabad

Day 3: 1st Sep: Attabad to Hunza and Nagar and reached gilgit

Day 4: 2nd Sep: Gilgit To Shangrila To Skardu To Deosai

Day 5: 3rd Sep: Deosai To Astore To Rama to Gilgit

Day 6: 4th Sep: Gilgit To Babusar Top To Naran To Rawalpindi

Yes it is open now but it was clossed when we were there.

Day 1:
On 30th aug After attending the marriage of cozn reached home at 12.30 am and packed my bag by 12.45 missed a lot of things and went to zero point by 1 to pick faizan and hafiz sahb or phla jhatka every single petrol filling station in my way was closed and now we were little confused what should we do finally found one open in commercial market beside punjab Bank filled the tank bought 10 litters extra in a bottle and we were on our way. By Hasanabdal Hafiz sahib was gone slow journey towards Destination. Reached Mansehra by 4 AM. around 6 we reached battal and there starts the some extreme headache. stopped at some truck drivers cafe had 2 cups of tea and felt a little batter. and after that started driving both faizan and hafiz sahb were asleep which was quite some uncomfortable situation but carried on. Reached Besham City by 9 the road was amazing and i was loving the drive with some great music and we reached Dasu the worst nightmare of our journey. After breakfast at dasu we came to know that the amazing road just disappeared replaced with a dirt track with patches effected by landslide and pools of water. the car was taking some heavy tool and started making some strong metallic sound on every jump. we were in a no man's land and anything to the car means end of journey. and the road started to get even worst. max speed was 10kmh and we were like crawling. there was a thing about that area that even we never saw any animal for an hour. there were doubts that are we even on the right track because there was no traffic at all for more than an hour. faizan kept driving and finally we found a stone Marked Chillas 90km so we were on right track. after that the road got a little batter and saw 2 convoys led by a police car coming from the other side. Reached Chilas by 3 Pm. It took us 5 ours to clear those 130 odd kms and we were exhausted but hafiz sahb was fresh as he slept 90% of the time on the worst track in the country. The journey from Chillas to Raikot was good and After that an amazing road with stunning evening views. Reached Gilgit at 6 30 PM After 17 Hours of travelling. it was longest ive ever traveled. Muazam was waiting at Rupel Inn hotel gilgit were we freshen-up and had some tea with snacks. all i wanted was a bed and i asked muazam should we check-in but he put a suggestion to drive to hunza were there is a forest department hut i didn't wanted to go but majority did so we were back on road at 8 pm. I was awake for about 36 hours and that got me. At 11pm Had our lunch at Some Kashmiri hotel near Jafarabad nagar and again started our journey by 12 30 am we Reached Murtazabad were the Hut was located but all we know about that hut was there is an electricity pole in the garden and some apple trees. Muazam never was being there so we after searching the town till the end turned around and started to and fro motion around the town . Couldnt find a single loving soul in whole town. Few places matched the description of having a pole in there gardens but the keys doesnt work or there were no apple trees. it was 2 Am and we had no place to go and suddenly i saw 3 boys sitting on a very dark shade across the road having some party. They were our messiah. They told us about the location of the hut and Finally we were there. The hut was not what it was described to muazam. the front door was not on the road but down the street with some huge slope. I told them that i don't want to park the car down there it wont get out because it was automatic but majority again ruled against me so i said "Subha khud he ab nikaln" and parked the car. Faizan and Hafiz sahb fell asleep in 5 mins of getting in the room. but we realize that we forgot to bring water and decided to get water from the city Ali Abad at 3AM started the car and the car cursed me. There was no Power in it. tried to drive it out but it just got stuck in the door. There was a turn in front of main door and then the slope. i was like how could we possibly get it out. From were i was looking at it we stuck the car in a place from where we cant get it out. only possible solution in my mind was of breaking the door pillar and the wall. with that put the car back in the park filled the bottle from a water spring in front of the hut. My sleep cycle was broken so it took me 3 hours of trying to sleep at 6 in the morning and took some nice shots of sun rise. The next morning when i woke up i turned on the camera and it was not displaying the pics put the card in laptop to check and it was corrupted. so the few shots we took last day were gone. only got a few mobile shots left.

Actually no. we didnt crossed deosai on airwave due to a small accident. we hired a 5 door parado from gilgit for 2 days to go to deosai.
