Good News for 20w-50 Users

First time there is an oil which has come in "Semi Synthetic in 20/50 Viscosity". Details as follows

Producer : Leppon, Korea
Brand : SIM3 Multistar
Viscosity : 20/50
Genere : SEMI SYNTHETIC
C. Interval : 5K km
Price : Rs. 525/L
Bottle : Blue Color

Normally all available oils in 20/50 are purely mineral oils and the CI (Change Interval) is 2.5~3K.
But this oil is the first one which came with "Semi Synthetic" Category and CI is 5K for sure.

Therefore, all those users who are using 20/50 simply Mineral oil, can now use above one also. Its just little expensive than normal mineral oil, but performance is good and change interval as well.

Well, if you are already feeding 20/50 oil like hiflow, havoline, hx3, ptt, etc. then YES shifting to SIM3 would be better.

CI is diesel engine oil spec. Petrol spec is mentioned starting with an S. If it is primarily a diesel oil, petrol rating will be much lower. SJ maybe.

Here i used CI as short word for "Change Interval" as already mentioned in the OP. It has nothing to do with Diesel standards.

fully Yes. Whatever the engine is, the SIM3 would work perfect for it.

TMO = Toyota Motor Oil. Right?
This week I had a chance to meet with the engineer of Toyota Mintgomory Lahore and he shared the information that Toyota is putting an additional additive in their Petron 20/50 and this additive is especially for the weaker engines. I forgot the name of this additive, but as so many people using this oil even in the new cars (which is technically wrong), hence Petron is getting popular. So technically according to Toyota, this oil works well for the weaker engines.
I've experience to use this oil in my car too, engine get increased pick up immediately. But I only got fuel mileage 12 Km/L. And since I know that Toyota is not oil manufacturer, I shift to PTT & presently LM. Now fuel average is 15 KM/L within city (in winters) and ~14km/L in Summer. Oil performaces are earnestly much satisfied.

Sir I am using it since I bought the ride in 2010. It is a Gli and the most recent oil change was on the last weekend when it clocked 30k on the odo. I have not made the ride taste any other oil for two reasons.
1. Its performance is good. There might be better oils available in the market but I have no issues with this oil. Point 2 helps me sticking to it.
2. Market is flooded with fake oils n filters. Getting my oil n filter from 3s dealership gives me the confidence that whatever quality it is at least it is not a counterfeit product.

Always stick to one oil IF it is going alright.
Do not Experiment with everything new that comes up in market, never knew leppon is korean, I heard its malaysian.

if Mr. X is using 20/50 in his car and fully satisfied with that. Then Mr. Y pops up with option to change it to 10/30 or 0/30 or 5/20, etc. etc. Then its logical to say that switching oils can be dangerous.
But OP subject shows the news for those who are already using 20/50. Here its all about changing the oil company and not entirely the viscosity. And reason to change is also mentioned that its "Semi Synthetic", or better than 20/50 Mineral oil.
Leppon is infact Malaysian. But with a joint venture of a Korean oil company they start producing oils too. Check their website.

Because when we change the oil, then previous oil doesn't 100% come out from the engin. Even if the engine is super hot, even than 5~8% oil remains within.
So when we add next oil, then its infact 95% new oil and 5% left over of previous oil.
But after 2 complete consective changes, we can say its has 99% same oil.

am also sure that the ci (change interval) would be less then 3K or max. 3K for petron. right?
having conscious about vehicle is really good thing. But if better options are available to increase performance, then trying them is not a bad idea.
Imported oils are very good indeed but conditionally has to buy from authetic dealer whcih is more important infact.

FYR, Petron 20/50 is mineral oil only with addition of additive which are helpful for the weaker engines.
while SIM3 is "Semi Synthetic".

too frequent oil changes are also not recommended, there was a study I came across some years back which showed some very solid reasons not to change oil just to show extra care for the engine. Specially for countries like PK where people dump oils everywhere, we would be experiencing some real serious health issues very soon. Also too much exposure of engine to active detergents in engine oil and addtives (STP etc) cause more harm than good. rest its up to you, but I personally do not change oil too soon cause it doesnt make sense at all to me. I did changed oil once or twice earlier than recommended because of driving in dirty / dusty environment. Otherwise Genuine oil filter and good oil easily lasts 8-10,000 km (not true for diesels, mind it)

If these intervals are for synthetic oils, then is OK.
but if for Mineral oils too, then i will say "wow".

Till 10k kms, indus motors uses petron20w50 and then after that petron plus 10w-30
Change interval is 5k km for both.

Well, technically the low viscose oils should be utilized first when the engine is new.
once its old & older, then its better to slightly move to higher viscose oils.
But important point to note is, that, higher viscose oils NEVER gives better mileage. But keep the good pick up either (if these are originals).

Dont you just love someone specifying change interval of 5K kms just out of thin air...

How about I use this oil in an ancient aircooled beetle and drive it in the sahara for 5K kms - that engine has no oil filter and a sump of 2.4 litres.

Oils are not like "dekh baba naya maal hai" when you post an oil spec post it completely not something that a failing salesperson would do.
