GPS In pakistan

Does any here use gps in the lahore area? how much does a decent gps system cost? Is there any in-dash options? How is signal strength, and does maps cover major parts of pakistan?
I know that google maps even has small villages located on them, do does the gps maps do that also?

Yeah GPS does work in Pakistan. There are free open source maps available for Garmin brand GPS devices. I am using it since 2009 and fairly detailed maps are available. I also used it Lahore and it helped find out my uncle's house in Garden Town after I missed a right turn on canal while coming via motorway.

If you Google, you will find a couple of companies dealing with the equipment for cars, in-dash stuff as well, but they are too expensive, just for the map they charge about 130 dollars.

GUIDE: Nokia E6x / N7x series Garmin Mobile XT Setup

		 			This is only applicable for the Nokia E6x, N7x and newer series.

Download the app (Symbian 2nd Edition or 3rd Edition - based on your phone) from: Garmin: Garmin Mobile XT Navigation for Smartphones Software Update Collection

Installing GMXT on Symbian Phones:

1. Download the installer from the garmin website Garmin: Garmin Mobile XT Navigation for Smartphones Software Update Collection

2. Next use winzip to unzip the .exe file you donwloaded. This will extract the contents to a folder.

3. From the extracted folder copy, search for a folder called GMobileCard.

4. Copy the contents of this GMobileCard folder to your memory card.

5. Insert memory card into phone.

6. Install Garmin Mobile XT on your phone by navigating to the garmin folder on your memory card and run "garminxt.sis" this will install the application.

7. Launch Garmin Mobile XT by going to your applications folder and start "garminxt"

8. If you have a licensed Garmin Mobile XT copy then you can activate and use the internal GPS of the device. You can do that by navigating to to Settings\system and choose "connected gps".

I dont need direction in the city, just direction from lahore to fortabbas. There is high ways and stuff so it should be there.

@jiiic. It depends upon the map you install on your GPS. And you can check this by feeding coordinates into your GPS and then simulate the routing, if it calculates and starts simulation it means it has got all you want. Here is a screenshot showing Fort Abbas and I checked it provides guidance from Islamabad also.

thats not bad door to door is a far fetched concept but this works pretty well i am quiet sure Besides it also looks good in car gives it a bit high tech look
