It could have been true if you were in UK, USA or any other country except Pakistan where used car never depreciates. A person buys a car for say 30 lakhs in 2018 drives it for a year and sells it for 34 lakhs 
. If I correctly remember Corolla xli 2007 brand new used to sell for 7.8-8 lakhs and people even after driving them for like 4-5 years sold those cars at 11 lakhs imagine. We are a third world country where Corolla and Civic is a luxury, in other part of world they are known as econobox sedans or shopping trolleys.
