Nice and informative thread.
Any silicone based grease for conditioning the weather stripping of cars. I own two corollas, a 2005 and 2015. The 2005 has aged well with time and still has no door noise while on bumps. Whereas, the 2015 starts squeaking if not serviced regularly.
I have tried addinol spray lubricant which is good but needs periodic application. I have gone through this thread, someone was talking about Harris silicone grease. If that is the solution where can i get it?

@Xulfiqar aoa bhai I own a camry 2005 and you have been of great help. My axles boots needs rework or maybe I have to replace the axles completely . The problem is the hard jerk when put into d and r the inner right side shaft vibrates and the outer boots need replacement.
Can you please help me with the inner cv grease and the outer one with the especfic amounts in to be put in. And for boots do you recommed rbi thermoplastic boots with the oem toyota clamps then came with it.

Thermoplastic outer boots are also OE toyota but require HD clamps crimped with HD tools

The inner factory ones are rubber and use low profile clamps.

For grease, nlgi1 polyurea like mobil polyrex EM is good and esch joint takes 200 grams of it.

Outer can take nlgi2 EP polyurrea or EP lithium medium or high temp grease with added moly like LM47 from liquimoly.

Here its rare to find NGLI1 grade grease. Even NGLI2
one friend in ICT was looking for NGLI2 grease to use in his 92 model prado to drive shaft and boots/joints. He visited some places in RWP but didn't find it.
I bought it from Lahore and sent him in ICT.

NGLI2 grease should be commonly available here. But its not.
so NGLI1 grease would be near to impossible to find.

Nlgi1 is available as its widely used in centralised greasing systems of electric motors, such EM greases are always polyurea too. You may have to find it from actual knowledgeable retailers and not “china, taiwaan, japani kwaltee” type parchoon di hatti.

At the industrial level, yes these things are available in bigger packings like 25Kg, 50Kg, upto 180 Kg, etc. Can buy from companies like PSO, Shell, etc.

But at individual level we hardly need to use it once or twice. We barely need it in 50mg or 100gm packing which is near to impossible to find here.

I bought one half Kg tin of silicone grease which was the smallest packing available. I need to use it on the brake calipers and on battery terminals. After using that, I still have it in my stock over last 4 years I believe. Have shared this silicone grease with some friends who need to use them for same applications. But still I have more than half tin pack of it

I recall that you could buy polyurea EM nlgi1 grease in 400 gram tubes easily. It was sold at industrial stores.

Ngli1 grease is used for applications like seat tracks, sunroofs, etc. Hardly 10 grams grease is enough to lube them. Hence majority of the people prefer to apply NGLI3 grease there since its commonly available and provides lubrication instead of buying expensive ngli1 in bigger packing.

you can use a silicone grease there, but its not applied with finger - its painted on with a tiny artist brush on the rails only after a very very thorough cleaning.

i have J95 Prado with 5VZ. Its TZ model and has sunroof. When i open the sunroof it goes inside the body and there are no tracks i see where i can apply the silicone grease. should i apply in the rubber channels instead ?

secondly applying silicon grease with brush seems impossible because its thick and seems applying with finger is the only option

Seems like you need to learn how to grease sunroof tracks, the sunroof tracks are slots where the glass cassette slides, once you have cleaned the channels completely (cotton bud on stick) you use an artist brush or an acid brush to apply the grease there, an almost invisible amount is used.

Dont gloop it on, that will attract dirt and clog up the channel. And always remember to clean it first.

Nlgi rating is a thickness rating, this is other than the chemistry make up and application rating

Meaning just because you can buy MP NLGI3 grease for cheap money, it doesnt mean that you can use it on a prop shaft slip joint.

If your workshops cannot understand or know this little fact, then the owner is to suffer the consequences, so the owner needs to start inventory keeping or hire different shops.

Here I’ve see a shops/people who grease the bigger trucks like 3-axles, 4-axles, etc. Because most of the trucks in PK are old models and they need to visit Grease shops to pump grease almost once in 2/3 months.

These shops has grease guns and labour. They have couple of types of desi (local made grease) which they keep pumping in every truck.

Here is fun fact. Neither the grease shops know what type of grease they should pump in the joints/boots, neither the truck owners knows anything about grease. They just believe that Grease Grease hoti hey.

Nevertheless the shop owners earning good money despite having near to zero knowledge about grease.

The highway tractors and on road trucks in Pakistan have miserable service life and extremely frequent breakdown because of these cheap shortcuts. Any goods truck going on a sea to mountain journey in Pakistan fails in some mechanical fashion on the way. Its literally so stupid that its laughable.

I live in usa and have to find suppliers for some specific kind of greases like polyurea ep2 that is fillled in outer cv joints of modern cars, or nlgi00 lithium type used for central lube systems in small cottage industry type place.

Or calcium sulphonate or marine use aluminum complex materials,

None of these are sold at pretty looking retail stores.

Last month i visit usa and visited home depot. i went there to find some adhesive for my shoe which broke down in the plane. I showed the picture to the home depot guy in adhesive section that i need something to glue my shoe's bottom with upper. They looked at me with strange eyes and said find something on amazone and order from there because they don't have some shoe adhesive

Another guy told me to visit CVs and they have separate section of adhesives and i can find it from there. i went to CVs (which is actually a pharmacy) but didn't find it there either.

anyway, now i guess we have toooooooo much variety of the greases (not only in greases but in most of the things either these are cosmetic items or cooking oils or juices or clothes, or anything) is available out there and its not possible to find all items from one shop/website,

For inner tripod type can u suggest something different. Secondly you mentioned ngli 1 but mobil polyerx is ngli2 with blue colour.
