I got brand new leaf springs, bushings and struts for my vehicle a little while ago, and they've developed a layer of oxidation very quickly, beginning to resemble the worn out, broken springs they replaced. Recently, I've started hearing some prominent squeaking from the rear when going over speed bumps.
What's the best way to preserve leaf springs and extend their life? I found a bottle of graphite oil and thought about using a brush to apply it generously to the leaves all the way up until the bushings.
