Green number plates? An embarrasment

Green number plates are for use of Government officials, and every day we see kids and their moms driving around in Gov plated cars, and with so much pride as if they earned them! These faggats are eating this country away, and then we figure, oh shit, Pakistan aint getting nowhere! Its starts right here. They beat the living hell out of Gov cars, fuel them every second day, and have no remorse for it. Shame on these people!

Its not that big an issue as it is portrayed here.
Different grades have different entitlements e.g if u r above grade 20 u are entitled to use the car for official and private use with specified ceiling of petrol. I am telling u this based on my 3 years working expereince in a Government Organization and also my Father is a CSP.
This perquisite of conveyance is part of the package.
Imagine yourself working at 5600 Rs. in the ebggining of your career and Rs. 28000 Rs. per month after serving for 30 years. sounds funny haan.
So if a car, one telephone and house rent is given to Govt. Servants it is only carefull research and study about compensation packages.
In any case compensation of a Civil servant or Army Officer is way less then Corporate sector. I know i am inviting all sort of comments here but this is a fact.
If it is an emberresment ofr some people and they want to make it a NAtional Issue, Fine.
About Abuse of Power. Good and bad people are everywhere. We are nobody to point fingers unless we have any proof. Labeling a community like this is not reasonable at all.
These petty issues only help us to deviate from actual problems of this country.
Now before someone will quote the Non Development Expenditure of Govt. of Pakistan, Just compare it to other developing countries.

At least a Civil Servant pay tax @ 25% on his income and it is deducted froms alary. NOt like a BUsinessman or politician who contribute nothing on their own personal loads of income.

Be fair, try to look around with an open mind. If a teenager is roaming around in an official green number plate car
His father is definitely paying that much share of tax as is decided by CBR.

There is a very important point which all of you are missing....The thing is not weather u can use the Govt car for private use or not...its how u use it....I have many friends having there DAD's govt cars and they treat it as if its a stolen car. They way these govt cars are driven reduces there life, incurrs losses and cause accidents because of the reckless way they are driven. I am not against Govt Cars being used privately but plzz take care of it as you will take care of your own car....THATS IT...

My concern is that most of Green/blue(Police) Numberplated Vechicles are driven recklessly they often break signals and change lanes very frequently as if they are the only drivers on the road.After all they have no fear of being apprehanded.

The issue u r highlighting is very genuine, but it is a matter of personal Integrity, honesty, and to some extent Patriotism.

If u allow your teenage son to drive without a license, thats the worst of all in first place. Whether it is a Govt. Car or Private Car.

Personal Morals and ethical standards play the most important role. Not everything can be imposed or enforced. After all Humans have brain to think.

I ve my observation on this topic.
* Every green plate does not come out after the duty hours.And what we see on the roads are entitled and authorized vehicles on bonnafied duty.
* Green plates vehicles which are being misused are very few and these vehicles are used when the original officer is not on chair and someone on "acting duty" is there to misuse.
*senior officers who may be very honest and dutiful,will not come to know what their sons are doing.Mostly youngster from these families harrass or pressurise drivers and take the cars out and then display what is objectionable.

@szak5, @RL589... green number plate is no crime, but this is no ones personal property, it belongs to govt. Dont blame businessmen or private car holders, as they buy, run and maintain the cars out of their pockets... and when the cars get smashed, it is they who pay for it, not the govt... kisi ka baap army mein ho ya govt.secretary ho, they all will get retired one day, and will then feel the pain... lets take this forum in the good sense rather than a battle ground.

Because it is actualy offensive to some people.
A Govt Secretary or Army Officers feel pain when they retire, WHat does that mean. Please explain. Is it the similiar pain that a businessman have when he faces a huge loss or what?

I should ask again. On the average, How much tax does a businessman pay to Govt. from their personal income? do check and tell me. I am not talking about exceptions here but average.

Dont think that u people are paying for Perquisites of Civil or MIlitary Bureucracy, beacuse u people are not. Salaries class including bureucrats pay more taxes compared to Businessmen's on their personal incomes. Green number plate cars are part of their compensation package, and they pay the taxes due for using these cars. What is so difficult about it.
Please tell me which pain were u reffering to?

I assume u r a businessman or something because your posts imply that.

@spectra... the topic is intended to misuse of cars only as this is an AUTO forum, ofcourse businessmen need to be brought under the hook to pay their taxes, only 5% of business community pays due taxes... secondly, you are again misquoting me on this... I am not against "entitlement" of govt. cars to officers, its their misuse which is wrong AND misuse of anything is wrong. you have my answer here. And feeling of "pain" is for those who actually misuse such facilities. Why do u think junejo took away all the 1300 cc and above cars from govt. servants, to bring them at 1000cc and below, is cuz of the cost of fuel and luxury which our poor govt. cannot affort... and as their are honest Govt. servants, there are honest military officers and businessmen, who dont need any sermonizing
