Guidence needed for a tour from islamabad to chitral

Hi, my family is planning a trip to chitral from islamabad. And i have got no idea what Areas we can travel to in chitral. Its a 7 days trip. So can anyone guide me for a good trip. I mean what should be our first stop from islamabad, and what next and how much traveling time it would be. Where should we be spedning nights, and areas should we be exploring. I need a whole guide plan please. TIA.

Miss Shumaila Chitral is almost 477 km and 11.5 hours drive from Islamabad. As you leave Islamabad, you have to get on to the motorway towards peshawar but u guys have to go to Mardan city. After traveling for an hour, you will see Rashakae Interchange which is a bypass to Mardan city. You have to turn left and get off the motorway

The way to chitral is pretty hostile so if you people didnt left early in the morning so there would be a problem them. U people have to reach a safe zone before it gets 5pm. U might not be able to find any hotels after batkhela. There are no rest houses for family as such in DIR.

Bathkhela. The best thing you can do is you people leave Islamabad around 6 am.

Leave Islamabad, latest by 6:00.. so that you cross Mardan before rush hour.
As rightly pointed above you will have to hit Chitral same day as there is no worth staying place in between. You can take your first tea stop around Malakand/Chakdara... then late lunch break around Upper Dir (before tunnel), and then hit Chitral for dinner time.

Now that the tunnel is open to all traffic, you will save around 1.5 hour of your travel time.

Road is pretty good throughout, except for a 10 km patch before and after the tunnel.

In Chitral you can make a day trip to Bamburet (commonly known as Kelash valley). It takes around 3 hour one way from Chitral. It's a track and tests got nerves at times.

On the second day you can make a day trip to Garam chashma.

And then you can take off to shandur. Takes around 8 hours from Chitral. You can stay the night at PTDC Mastuj, last civilisation before Shandur top.

it would tae abt 11 hrs to reach chitral from islamabad......ur first stop shud be dir .... the drive is not that difficult now with lowari tunnel open....

Asif bhai we are also planing a trip to shandur and qaqlasht, appreciate if you can review it give your feedback.

Please advise is this time of year is ok for this trip ? beacuse someone told me that we are too late and best time to visit these places has already passed. And is there any place to stay in shandur.

well ur plan seems ok...

yes although the peak time to travel in these parts is past but still u can enjoy the buti there.. itna late nai hua and its still not complete of-season there...

there is no hotel in shadur u have to return to buni for comfortable stay.........

well on public transport u mite find it hard to meet these timelines so keep margin of 1 day at least

Thank you for the information it really is helpful. One more thing, if we are going to the places like kalash valley, garam chashma, shundur top, so do we have to hike a lot for these spots or we not?

Not at all... all the three places are accessible via Jeep right till the end .

One more place is Pir Mughlasht... but a bit nerve testing ride.

One thing i would like to mention, once you go to kailash or chitral Valley you will promise yourself that you will never come here again. There is nothing such over there. I have seen these areas.
