I am from Toronto as well and i know hows the was winter condition in canada, if you go for Nissan 240SX, RX7, Skyline GTS, BMW, you will face lots of problem in winter since your just 18, its not easy to control a rear wheel drive in winter, although in hardcore winter i have driven whole winter my transam, firebird, and bmw's, so buy something which you can use all year, BMW is a nice car 328I will be huge on gas, i was recommend to go for 325I or 325IS coupe, you got some power and something little cheap on gas, rem with GTO, BMW, RX7, Skyline you always have to put supreme Gas, i have driven 3xdifferent bmw's in winter and i didnt found them bad at all, they got nice control as long you have good winter tires, GTO is a good option cus its a front wheel drive, and All wheel drive is a a best option but you wont find that in your budget, Presently i own a 3000GT or GTO, and its a fun car to drive, you can easily also find the parts for 3000gt cus its same as dodge Stealth or GTO japanese version, but parts for skyline are costly, rare to find and something goes with RX7. if thats the list of you have for cars then i would recom u to go for BMW 3series, Nissan 240sx and Mitsubishi GT0 good luck
