Ah so we do have entitled folks on these forums as well... good to know.
Most ADAS systems are "driving assists", not replacements. I can't believe I have to explain this to someone educated but here we are.
These systems are there as an additional safety measure in case the driver is not able to react in time because as good as we might be, I'm sure you can't deny there has never been an instance where your attention might have lapsed for a second while behind the wheels. It does happen to the best of us regardless of how rare it is, but it doesn't mean it should also result in someone getting run over as well.
I've personally benefited from this simply because I had a sneeze (an effing sneeze) and someone decided to run across the road right at that instant. This was almost in front of Services Hospital on Jail Road and there was a good chance that person would've gotten hit if the feature had been turned off despite me being under the speed limit.
Sorry if I sound a bit rude but arguments like these always remind of a classmate back in the university who once shared a story about running over a little girl on Islamabad Expressway because he would've either run into traffic in the next lane or go off-road and damage his father's recently restored S class which he wasn't allowed to take out for a joyride.
The context he was sharing the story in wasn't because of the car or the little girl that died, but how much it typically costs for a case like this to go away. And that he had to pay 2 lakhs at the time because the girl's family wouldn't settle for "anything lower". His only concern seemed to be the car that got damaged and the money it cost, not the life that was lost.
