There are two clear and distinct aspects to all EV discussions. One is the Chinese market specific, and the other is rest of the world.
Often times, we take the statistics, future projections and the broader market outlook of the Chinese EV market and try to apply it to rest of the world. Chinese domestic market dynamics cannot be replicated anywhere outside China and probably never will.
For our country and many others, EV becoming mainstream or even giving competition to Hybrid let alone ICE only cars is far far away from where we are today.
That is not to say that Chinese EV manufacturers don't have technological leadership in EV domain because they do. When it comes to EV and PHEV, even Toyota is far behind, which is why they are doing partnerships with Chinese. However, outside EV, Chinese are at the mercy of other manufacturers and compete solely on price to feature ratio, i.e. value. But then even value can be subjective.
