It's Santro Club 2009 - One handed use since day one. I get its work done by myself and I know what it has gone through in 8 years.
Quick issue as identified: Fan is not starting automatically when the temperature needle goes between the two points. Hence the car starts to heat up and needle starts to go into red zone beyond the 2nd point.
However, when I turn the A/C, fan works fine and the temperature also comes to normal between the two points as well as the fan stays on. As soon as I turn off the A/C the fan again turns off.
Now a local electrician didn't touch anything and advised to get it checked via scanner from another workshop. Long story short, the scanner suggested with the trouble code of PO115 which is hinting about the problem with the ECM. The guy told me that there is a problem with the sensor connected via the autofan grip/switch. When the switch/grip is removed or disconnected, the fan starts rotating but that way the temperature gauge behind the wheel is dead.
I am not sure if that guy really knows what he was talking about so I called a person at Hyundai Sajjad Motors as I couldn't visit them at the time and told him exactly what's happening. He told that it's a wiring issue. I can not argue with him on the phone so told him that I'll visit on Monday.
But the issue remains quite not-understood as there is nothing happened recently with the car, nor any electrician has got a chance to mess with the wiring. So I thought during the weekend, I should consult with you guys over here to know what actually could be the reason causing this problem. Currently I am hopping not to have wiring/rewiring as I don't even believe Sajjad motors would do it perfectly. Wonder if it's only a sensor or the grip issue which could be resolved buy just replacing one? For that just a little recent relevant history of the car work is as below.
- Just behind the engine there are two separate joints of three pipes. Last year in winters, one of the water pipes at a joint once leaked heavily during travel which I needed to get fixed but after much struggle in night. It went well and never bothered again.
- Water body leaked and fixed in summers 2016 (later same year)
- After since the pipe/joint leakage issue, I have been noticing a very small leakage in drops but only in winters and cold. Also it never showed up whenever I brought this to mechanic in day time. Usually it does so in night standing in the garage and I could see only a little leakage on the ground. But winters gone, the leakage gone. Now when it's just coming back, I have started seeing the issue again. As I told this leakage is very little, I don't believe it could have decreased the water level.
But just today, I noticed the temperature gauge going into red zone w/o A/C right when I entered in the garage after having a drive around 4 to 5km. That's when I also looked under the hood and the fan was not running while the radiator water bottle was really hot and full to neck. I am not sure if that very little leakage could even could make an electric fault in sensor?
