HELP ::: Engine Overhauling - FX - 1987

Assalam o alaikum

I have a Suzuki Fx- 87 (CNG installed @ 200k km) with me done aprox 210K km on the original engine. 210k is alot for a small engine like that in fx so its now time that I go for an overhaul (wanted an engine swap but my dad is strongly against it )

I wanted to help regarding an expert mechanic in karachi who can do a proper overhaul. what would be the total cost aprox. if i go for all genuine parts.

Also, what are my options if i go for an engine swap

i use my car as a daily driver and economy + reliability is all that matters to me.

Well I am also in favor of engine rebuild but my last few rebuilds and few other friend's rebuilds went horribly bad and the last swap i did was amazing the engine ran so good for around 1.5 years and with very good sound and everything.

So my suggestion will be if your mechanic is not an experienced one and your engine was rebuild before than go for a swap that will be a bit expensive but it will last long

Swapping in FX.....boss how u are gonna find a kabli engine in good condition. ur dad is right overhaul.
I can recommend danish autos, opp to disco bakery person name is islamuddin. he is taking care of my cars since 15 years, and is a expert one. but expensive a little as well. try him out.

Go for overhaul if you already haven't overhauled the engine a couple of times.

I am quite satisfied with my 1985 FX (Registered 87). I have had it completely overhauled once and only the Rings changed in another occasion (in the last 21 years since we have had it). It still goes beyond 120km/h. I love my FX more than my Cultus.

My mechanic is quite good, too. He is situated near the Farooq-e-Azam Masjid at North Nazimabad (after 5-Star Chowrangi).

He is known as Sattar Bhai.

Also, near to him is also a very good auto-electrician known as Aslam Bhai. The reason I mentioned him as well, is that if you already haven't yet, then have your wirings redone. I have. And it was money well spent. No electrical faults in 2 years. No starting problems even after full servicing.

Both charge slightly more than market rates, but are reliable and do good honest work.

Complete Engine Overhaul: 8K to 10K depending upon the refurbishment required.

Complete ReWrinig & Alternator Overhaul: 4.5K

However, these rates are 3 and 2 years old respectively.

An overhaul, if properly done, brings back life to any engine, almost to around 95% Volumetric Efficiency.

I build cars and engine as a hobby and have a decent setup for every need. (cars are my passion so you can expect and honest and optimum work to be done on your car).

for the cost, it depends on the state of the existing engine, how many parts u need and def, what quality of build are you looking at.
