Yes all the peaks around saif ul maluk are covered with snow too and there are glaciers all around. We couldn't even trek to Ansoo lake because of that.

Thank u for this information . If Main road is closed than it is too risky to drive through babusar. I am spending tonight at abbotabad. It means I should change my plan to go Hunza

Yes you should, especially now after the snowfall.
Even before snowfall there were many patches where the road was covered with landslide rocks and slippery mud tracks with the car traveling along the lulusar lake.
You can go from KKH but i heard there is construction going on which causes problems.

But you can consult some one else too.

What would be a good and safe time to cross?
Early morning to avoid traffic or midday to make sure snow is less?

Early morning the snow on riad woulb de like hard ice making it difficult to travel. Better wait till about 11.00

In my opinion early morning is better, we left naran at around 7 am and arrived at Babusar top by 10:20 pm.
There was no ice on road then (before snowfall)
Then we left Babusar top at 10:45 am and reached naran by 1:30 pm.
The journey from naran to Babusar was pleasant we had no problems and the traffic was minimum, but on the return journey the road was full of traffic and at one glacier we had to wait for like at least 30 min because the stupid people would not stop entering the glacier while we were in the middle and a guy in cruiser came near us and stopped and would not pass because the way was too narrow.

Also in traffic the cars going towards Babusar have to be very close to the Lulusar lake due to traffic with muddy road, and a novice driver can easily lose control and fall in Lulusar (God Forbid), and can also damage the car due to rocks and potholes.

Okay I think I need proper advice here. Please have some patience.
We are there families (3 couples with 8 kids with the eldest 7 years old and youngest 9 months old)
We want to explore hunza/sakurdu/khunjerab for 7nights / 8 days starting this weekend
For travel options: do we take our own cars or hire a high roof? If we hire a van then we would come back by air to make it less hectic for the kids.
Will the trip become too expensive with hire van/jeep through out?
Experts and experienced travellers please guide me
Is desoi or khunjerab safe for young kids ?
A tour operator has said to not take to avoid skardu since there have been some serious accidents on that road lately

Traffic situation while traveling to Babusar.
The traffic was much worse on the way back.

Hiring a van or suv for the whole trip would be much expensive than own car. If u are a sensible driver you can pass through.
Sometimes height causes troubles for people as khunjerab is around 16000 ft but that is not such a problem that should stop u from going there. Skardu road is not that dangerous. Accudents happen every where. These days renovation work is underway so it takes a lot of time to reach skardu otherwise no problems
