The purpose of this post is not to offend anyone but ever since i came back from Naran i was thinking of making this post. Hopefully people will learn from this and not get butthurt.
I must say i was pretty disappointed with the standard of driving i came across out there. Whenever the traffic slowed down for a bad patch of road(of which there are a lot now) or any other reason there is always that smartass who overtakes and goes into the opposite lane and similar retards follow. Then there are the reckless drivers. I saw some shocking manoeuvres by people with families let alone the boys. People have no patience. You can sort of get away with this driving style in cities but believe me it doesn't apply in these hilly areas. We went to naran and babusar on 8th aug and returned to abbottabad on the 9th. A car went into the ravine a day before us while hitting and killing a local lady herding sheep on the roadside, we came across the accident site only to find out there was a family of four in the car, both parents died, a young boy critical(later also died) and a very young girl miraculously survived. Can't imagine the trauma that little girl must have gone through when the truth was revealed to her. Saw a video when they brought her to DHQ Balakot and she was calling for her father and in another video she was asking for her parents and brother. The locals had to lie to her. My heart sank watching that. On the 8th another car went downhill carrying five friends from Daska. Two died and three were injured. Two crashes in two days. The numbers have gone up since then. In june another car carrying four local youngsters wasn't as lucky and fell into the Kunhar unlike the two crashes i mentioned above. They haven't found the car yet and only two of the four bodies were recovered at various timelines and i think one more was found some days ago. Let that sink it.
My point is simply this. When you are going to these places try to enjoy and take in every moment instead of saving time and driving recklessly. Trust me bar a handful of cars every other car passed me in a dangerous way. Mostly Sindh and Punjab reg cars. Again you may think you are great drivers but trust me slow is fast on the hills. Get the car thoroughly checked before leaving, don't drive fast, don't overburden the brakes. Please if the traffic has stopped for any reason, for heaven's sake don't go into the opposite lane and take that over completely. Every one going correctly in their lane will remember you in good words (sarcasm). You make the traffic jam even worse and you are an idiot if you do that. Secondly SLOW DOWN.
