Asslamaoalaikum brothers!

I want to swap my car's engine (12valve corolla) with 4AFE or 4EFE. please tell me which one would be better in terms of running cost , cng consumption , body adjustments etc.
As far as my knowledge is concerned 4AFE is DOHC 16 valve 1600 CC where as 4AFE DOHC 16valve 1300CC coming in JDMS .

@nadeemkhan207....u can swap a 4AF (1.6 16 valve DOHC carburator). its the carby version of the 4AFE and it will be easier to install as compared to the 4AFE as u will not have to sort out the wiring sensors, electrics etc.. u can also convert the 4AFE to Carby and then swap

@GTiR I want tog et rid of carb engine and want to have an EFI because what I know is that an efi one is lots better than carb one in terms of power, mileage and noise! if it is really so then I guess wont feel awkward having all these things ECU , sensors, wirings. would it be harmful to my car if installed all these things mentioned by you? what about 1300CC DOHC EFI ? isnt it good to be swaped with? I want a big change thats why getting mad to have this replacement . please guide me in the right direction and what I am interested in is 1300CC DOHC efi. please put me on the right path . thankyou

@nadeemkhan207...i agree with the advantages of EFI u mentioned but the difficult part is to get the EFi engine up and running as ull need an experienced mechanic to install all the wiring ecu sensors etc which i think will take a lot of time and money..iam suggesting u to go for a carby setup coz i used to have a EE90 Sprinter Liftback with a converted 5AFE engine and it gave me quiet a few problems as it was not orignal efi setup..i would still say tht u go for a Carb engine coz it will be easier to install tune etc unless ur ready to spend a lot of time and money then u can opt fpr an EFI engine.....a PW member Abidsidiqqi recently swapped a 4EF(Carbutator convert from EFi) in his charade and i think its running quiet well he can also give u some advice

OK but my mechanic is a kind of expert too in his field because he swaps engines, gearboxes and such kind of jobs, actually I replaced my auto trany wiht manual by utilizing his services and after a period of 6-7 months the thing is going fine with all the proven result I expected. and also he has replaced many engines like from original 2.0L to 1600efi i guess 4AFE in front of me and so on! the rate which I collected from the market ranges from 10-13K for 1300CC DOHC 16V with wiring ECU etc , make it 15K and 18-20K for 1600CC..... NOW tell me what to d o ? secondly I am having another original 1600cc GLi wiht m brother in law and that car is really fabulous but that thing is original 4AFE.. now brother tell me which direction to follow? thankyou

@nadeemkhan207.....as u said tht ur Mechanic is expert in EFi engines then id suggest tht u go for the 1600 engine as ull be running it on CNG then petrol avg is not a problem i guess and 1600 will give better performance on CNG than 1300...I think Buying the Corolla GLi u mentioned will be the best option, instead of going into the hassle of swapping engine in ur car as its orignal EFi and has great Drive etc

yes actually then I would go for GLi 2002+ model but at the very moment problem is money:) I can easily spend 15-20K instead of 200-300K so brother guide me waht to do? if this is a flop idea then do tell me too , would live wiht this carb but if it isnt a bad idea then tell me which one to go for? 1300 or 1600 because I have heard 1300CC DOHC 16V gives better mileage and reduced noise etc etc , what do u say?

id suggest, u go for 1600 coz it'll give better performance on CNG but if Efi installation is a problem then u can also convert the 1600 to carb and then swap and i think 4AF carb can give kareeb kareeb performance to 4AFE..Btw which corolla u have, EE90 or EE100(indus)?

sorry dont have idea about very technical terms like u said EE.... I have 88 standard corolla in very goood condition like 210K driven only and sometimes get really mad to change my car but the only reason for doing so is engine but now summer is over so no problem at all because the engine goes on low power with AC turned on with 5 passengers and some luggage in it at that time I feel should have powerful engine like my brother in law's car Gli. that car is really high on power like 5 passengers AC and luggage it responds really well to accelerator even on heights! well this engine isnt too bad though but I changed the gearbox to manual just for fun:) and almost 5-6 onths have been passed so I want some change again and planning to replace the engine but it is kind of big decision and I have more than one option thats why consulting you expert guys! thankyou

@nadeemkhan207....U should swap to 1600 coz the price in which ur getting it is very cheap coz when i was trying to change my car engine i got prices abt 40 k for 4AFE...u should go for the swap and try for the 1600 4AFE coz itll give u more power and run better on cng then 1300

yeah u r right but what do u think which one would give better mileage? I guess 1300CC ! agree that it would be bit low on power because of the difference of 300CC , what do u say? i think 1300would give more mileage in one cylinder of cng .... that would be good to go for 1600 cc/ one thing whihc I want to know too is would it create any hum or extra vibration etc simply any abnormality iin the smooth running??? thnakyou

As GtiR said u should go for carby as u wanted to run it on CNG whether its 4A or 4E

I have posted these pics before

I had engine swap for my charade and installed 4EFE in it later on converted to carborator as EFI wiring was expensive and there was no one good enough to do that.

but except power dont u think rapid pick and good consumption is gone some where in this engine ? and what about the price as u said wiring was quite expensive , here i guess 3000 for complete joint to joint efi wiring .... thankx
