Help needed for year 2000 Toyota Surf

Salam to all,

I am thinking of shifting from 2013 Honda Civic to 2000 Surf. How much difference there will be in ride, and over all control. Economy shouldn't matter as I barely drive few hundred kilometers per month.

If you have no adventuring virus you don't need a truck. Trucks & SUVs you see on road around 80% are with shashka type Status concious wan_na_be guys who seldom go out in rain let alone going even off road having zero knowledge when to apply 4 x4 hi & lo . they totally rely on drivers and doesn't know a bit of maintenance

Stay away from Surfs, LCs, Prados, etc.
Get a 2016 sedan or something like that.

Bro, get stick with Honda Civic 2013, or upgrade in the same class.
No need to shift to Surf, Prado, Land Cruiser, etc. Unless / until it's absolutely necessary ya shashka program!
Otherwise, your money, your choice!

Thankyou all... I forgot to mention that I usually take 1 or 2 trips to north Pakistan which isn't possible with Honda Civic such as Deosai, or Shandur, or Neelum valley... So the reason I want to switch is to use this jeep for adventure. If in future if Insha Allah budget becomes no issue, I can sell it and upgrade to vigo etc.

BTW how is surf's resale?

My suggestion will be to buy after elections as at the moment the asking price for these sort of vehicles is sky high...

Bhai. 2 trips a year!!! You can go close to any of those 4x4 jeep tracks in any sedan. Only the last 10 or 15 kms are for jeeps. So for 2 trips a year, just hire a local jeep for those 10kms.
Believe me, changing only the oil+filters of ur surf would cost more than what u will pay to those hired jeep drivers.

for that you can goto maximum length in your sedan. Park it there hire a 4x4 with driver complete the adventure come back safely and drive your sedan to home station.

I have recently sold my pristine 1999 model Toyota Surf with 1KZ-TE and switched to a Civic 2012 rebirth.

I used it as my daily runner for 2.5 years. My daily trip was around 40 kms and she used to give me 8 km/l in city and 10-10.5 km/l @ 100-110 km/h.

I sold it due to my personal plans otherwise it was a beast.

I would recommend to go for 2003 onwards Surf and that too petrol version 2700 cc (2004 onwards) or 3400 cc V6 engine.

I would suggest to wait for the year end due to two main reasons, first after elections SUV demand would be lower, secondly I have taken test drive of Kia Sporatge and I am really impressed by its ride height, build quality, comfort, its size and its 6 speed triptronic transmission.

I would recommend to wait for its launch or Hyundai Tuscon and if any of these are announced around 3-3.5 million go for it, if I have to go for an SUV maybe 2 or 3 years later I will opt for any of the above IA.
