Help Needed Please :(

Salam everyone..about two months ago i bought a Toyota corolla 1998 model Lahore number in Rawalpindi..The seller gave me the original book which was on his name. It was old format book (Not computerized) and on asking for the return file i was told that when i will transfer it on my name and get new computerized book then i ll get the return file with it as the file is in excise file. The seller was a nice and trust worthy person so i thought it's ok. When i went to pindi excise to get the car transfered and return file they said they can only transfer the car and for computerized book and return file i will have to go to lahore as it is lahore registered. I thought it's better to get it done from lahore and i told the seller i ll get it done from there through someone as the seller was not willing to go to lahore because of busy routine. In ramzan i sent the copy to lahore to an agent and told him i want all to be done. we agreed on a price and one week's time. Now it's been a month the agent has given me computerized plates on mtmis website car is showing on my name but the agent is not returning the book as he is saying they can't find the file? He said your case is in pending we we can't find the return file. Maybe isit misplaced or lost?. I was shocked to listen to it and told him to return my money and book but he went rude then and said k app khud check kerwa lain ager file milti hai tou mai ai kdou din k ander kerwa deta hun......IT is 20 years old model. Isit possible for file to be misplaced or lost? File is definitely with excise as there is no stamp on the book of it to be returned to the owner. Does anyone has any contact in Lahore excise or record room where files are kept? I am ready to pay aswell as long as anyone could sort this. I can't trust that agent as i think he might be lying for more money or anything....Any reference or connection in lahore excise record room who could check the file for me..I will be very very grateful as i am really stressed if anyone could help...PLEASE

Wa Salam Bro. Car registration, and especially transfer k baray mein Banday ko bohat carefully chalna parta Hai. Since baad mein aapko koi Hath palla nai pakrata.
And one should try its level best to avoid agents, unless / until its absolutely necessary!
I would suggest k aap aik baar karwa ghoot bharein and in person ETO visit karein, khwaa aapko chutti ley k jana paray ya kuj din lagg jyein.

you are picking a fight with the wrong person
Agent is not at fault here if the file is genuinely missing

For old cars, file do get lost with excise, not common though but happens. it is probable that agent is right, you can confirm it by paying a visit to someone in excise Lahore and that too with some reference or suitable amount of our founder's pictures in your pocket.

Faced a situation where I was told that file was lost. It took 3 months for staff to find it they said it was in some other office records. So maybe its possible. Secondly, I was told if car was bought through the bank, file would be with bank!

Listen to @basitali87 advice. Any sort of records/papers problem in any car old or new is whole headache, you must visit Lahore ETO office and keep at least 2 days for there. Go early by 8am max to avoid rush.

By the way, why you told agent to return to you book and money? Even if file is not found, ask him to give you original computerized book. Make some deal with him as he has your documents now. You have to be patient, no other choice.

As far as name showed on MTMIS, my dear sometimes you will be surprised when the act is caught without proper documentation, name goes back to previous owner! Be very careful!

Last, there is no "one" record room. Files are spread in various rooms, various buildings, various locations.

Based on my knowledge (approx 6 months old), I was told:

1. Get original bill of sale from manufacturer
2. If car had been leased at any time, get clearance letter from bank
3. Documentation from 1st owner
4. Submit in ETO office along with application
5. You will get "duplicate" file.

Sir. The agent is definitely lying. May be he is lying to get more money. Don't trust him.

So today i sent one of my guys to record room where all the files are kept and guess what File was there. Every my guy made a video of it. When i rang the agent to tell him he was still denying. I was like WTF. Then after some time he said yes file is there we found it today bla bla and give me 2 3 days i will get it transferred. I said why you need 2 3 more days as file is already there i have confirmed i told him to give it to us by Friday. He was acting very rude again today. Actually i am in pindi otherwise would have slapped him. Galat aur lalchi banday k agay phas gaye hain. I got it done through my brother in law and who is really a shareef insaan. Anyway will update regarding transfer by friday. If everything is available then i guess it won't need more than a day or 2?
