Help needed regarding Hilux single cab Vigo

AOA Everyone,
I have a 2008 single cabin Hilux Vigo. I was about to get it converted to a double cabin by marks conversions but before doing that I had a question what if I buy an NCP twin cab, Vigo, and swap the entire body on my registered single cabin chassis? Is it possible and legal?

I have talked to quite few people all say yes its legal. One of my friends was travelling from Quetta to Karachi in his Crown (body change) and was stopped by Quetta Custom. They told him to Pay Rs. 25000 in Quetta then only its legal. My Friend checked with Collector of Custom Karachi, he told him it’s legal but if you want to drive in Quetta you have to pay them Rs 25000 to 80000 as Duty/fees. Okay if the marks would build a cabin it would be illegal too.
Buy the cabin from importers and get t a invoice of full cabin etc and install it. Don't buy the whole NCP double cabin Vigo.
Remember buy it from dealer like parts dealer and get receipts and install it it's not a crime unless you do the NCP stuff

HiLux ID Data plate is punched over the fender wall of the vehicle, under the bonnet.
Frame number / chassis number is punched over the driver side chassis rail.

I suggest pay a visit to your local customs office and make an inquiry for such cab change over a locally manufactured vehicle.

Since Indus is manufacturing both double & single cab trucks you may get some premium information for such change, which may be useful for other members as well.

Body change is legal...
Done it numerous times & only frame number shouldnt be tempered. Theres nothing illegal... Just get it kabli & get a reciept from authorised dealers & sellers of cabins..

But remember it should be like hilux single cab to single cab, not single cab to double & hilux to surf ssr.
Cabin can be basically changed from old to new from authorised vendors not from civil used vehicles.

only same year same shape can be swapped, advanced model or face lift is customs magnet

Yes exactly but one mark x came to me for ac work. The guy swapped body on a 2007 mark x to a newer shape mark x. He did this whole thing from quetta & came back here. So my question is how did he managed to come here to isl if it was illegal? Quetta to islamabad there are alot of custom checkposts.. & same I've heard about prado body swap, hilux & pajero body swaps. So I'm not sure about cross year & cross model swaps but if it was illegal how do these vehicle by pass quetta to isb custom checkposts?

even in the remote location customs check point have radio links to verify the vehicle from frame & engine number. @cfbashir @cfb

Kala Dhaka is famous for body swap for trucks & SUVs. Since 2018 the show rooms of area does not encourage upgrade of year model, they have face lift variant of same year which people swap and thats' kind of 'legal' because

when parlor & salons can make 30 year old appear as 21 whats' the harm for 'facelift upgrade' for a vehicle

@dani_kk The phenomenon you are referring to is not exactly a body swap, instead, it is doubling. Some unscrupulous elements are placing punched / laser cut sheets in place of the original VIN numbers and providing fake registration plates and Smart Cards. The routes typically used by these smuggles are not on major highways but through small country roads. If you have any information regarding this vehicle, please send PM for interception.

Well it was a random guy, visited us a year ago in summer season. He showed me two head to head chasis plates installed on it.
