Dear PW Gurus, We are 2 friends and planning a trip starting on 3rd July to these areas.
I have researched extensively on the forum and built an itinerary based on the info. However, I require help regarding public transport and accommodation while trying to keep budget minimal.
Here is the detailed plan (questions in bold):
- Day 1: Isb - Gilgit on Natco. Night in Gilgit
- Day 2: Gilgit - Diran on (?). Start trek and camp at Hapakun - At this point I have two questions: Is public transport available for gilgit to diran? and are camps available on rent on camping site or do we need our own?
- Day 3: Trek to basecamp. Night in camp. Again, will camps be available on rent?
- Day 4: Traceback to Diran and continue to Karimabad. Night in Karimabad. Please suggest mode of transport. Does public transport has a route from Diran to Karimabad or need to book separately?
- Day 5: Day excursion to Attabad and Khunjarab. Night in Karimabad. Are there any cheap camping sites in Karimabad?
- Day 6: Hike to Ultar Meadows and back. Night in Karimabad.
- Day 7: Karimabad - Gilgit - Raikot. Continue to Fairy Meadows. Night in Fairy Meadows.
- Day 8: Rest day in FM.
- Day 9: Nanga Parbat Basecamp Trek. Night in FM.
- Day 10: Back to Raikot and continue to Islamabad. This is the most important question: How do we move from Raikot to Islamabad as Natco can only be booked from Gilgit?
As a side question, can we fit in Haramosh Trek in this if we manage 4 extra days?
