Visited Toyota Capital yesterday and got the fuel pump replaced free of cost under campaign recall but unfortunately the error did not go away. They did not bother to attach the scanner and were asking Rs 3,100 for it plus will take whole day just to scan the car. They also suggested me to change the fuel assembly for Rs 21,000( whole plastic thing that goes into fuel tank along pump and fuel filter) but were unsure whether the error will go away with replacement or not. I felt like they are just trying to sell spare parts and trying hit and trial method. Totally disappointed with their cold responses.
Today visited another mechanic who use scanners and stuff. He checked all the fuses and non were blown. Washed the errors through scanners but errors appeared again(errors codes U0100, U0129..all started with U). Then he did the meter check test through the scanner. The ECU(computer) was sending signals like temperature, rpm but the display meters were not showing. The mechanic concluded that either IC of meter is blown or it has to be reprogrammed and no need to do anything with engine or wiring. He suggested me to visit Arshad electrician in Sultan kahu Pindi who is expert in meter reprogramming and IC replacement.
My question is that incase the IC was blown, the meters would be totally dead. In my case it worked 2-3 times, once after removing the battery terminal and once after refuelling.
Please suggest if there is any other good electrician related to meter repairing/reprogramming other than Arshad Ustad in Islamabad/Pindi? or should i take the car again to Toyota dealership? Also, what would a new cluster meter cost?
P.S Its not about saving money but about rectification of problem. I didnt find any professionalism in Toyota 3s.
