Yes readers, you read it right, Yamaha has been hyping and raving about for something from the past couple of days. The company brought its business in Pakistan some two years ago and received a very warm welcome. Yamaha started off its assembly line with the YBR 125 and later brought YBR 125G. Experts remark that Yamaha has managed to instigate the introduction of modern aesthetics in Pakistani bikes, and this eventually lead to the era which is most commonly described as the 'Post YBR Era.' Nonetheless, Yamaha's sales have been decreasing in the past few months, which is why many of its consumers and dealers are expressing concerns. Rest assured the company has invested a lot and is likely to continue its business in Pakistan but for the meantime, Yamaha has seemingly devised to build up its -online and conventional- community in Pakistan. For this purpose, Yamaha has started the 'Safety First Campaign', where the company is trying to take a more open approach to connect with its fans and customers. The campaign primarily focuses on conveying the importance of small tips, riding etiquettes and regular maintenance, which is imperative to know.
So far so good, but what about the blurred bikes and highlighted heads of riders? Is the company planning to launch a new bike? There is quite a fuss going on about this in various communities and company's social media page as well, so I thought to research on this situation. Apparently, from the visual inspection of all the previous campaigns launched by Yamaha Pakistan, it's safe to say that the most recent campaign of blurred bikes is all about highlighting the importance of a helmet and what sort of role it plays in protecting a rider. Each year more and more people are being included in road accidents, with more than 1.3 million deaths worldwide tallying up the total lives lost due to this cause, it is pretty clear that a lot of campaigns are being launched worldwide to educate people on traffic laws and driving etiquettes. And according to my knowledge, Yamaha remains the only company in Pakistan to seriously take this initiative. From giving out free helmets, to providing riding gear and windbreakers, the company is trying to do all at once. Many of you will remember that company gave appropriate training to several mechanics with service toolkits -on debit and credit- nationwide, to break the stigma of 'Difficult to maintain, because we can't find the mechanic.' The company in a nutshell, is doing a lot. Many will argue, that numbers present a different picture altogether, but my opinions differ in this matter. Yamaha Pakistan is investing where it matters, in social media, quality of its products, increasing its after sale service network and more importantly customer satisfaction. Maybe launching a new bike will boost its sale (temporarily), but I believe the company is planning to have the right amount of customer and fan base before launching a new product in Pakistan.
