Hi All,

I have plan to swap the dying 2L engine of my Hiace with a petrol engine and then CNG to reduce running costs.

possible petrol engine choices are 1RZ (2.0L), 2RZ(2.4L) and 3RZ(2.7L)

check some prices in Pindi... 1RZ swap alone costs 85K :S.. but i think 1RZ will be underpowered!

can any peshawar member help find the swap prices in peshawar for a hiace 91 model?

Also i guess the TN2 C kit will work with the 150HP petrol engines...rite?

Akif not bad idea.. but I would suggest you to swap it with its orignal engine.. there wouldnt be too much of difference in the running cost... but if u really wanna switch to CNG... thn 1RZ would be fine for normal usage... you might feel under powered if you are carrying extra load... Considering power to weight ratio... I dont think 1rz would be underpowered.. still lets see what experts suggest

o bhai the 2.0 is a big engine even 1.8(7K) does fine in these vehicles, the diesel ones are genuinely 2.4 and upgraded to 3.2 turbo/biturbo. they cost hell lot more....
if you want to cut cost than 2.0 is best and yea go to peshawer the price is a bit lower.. i am trying to import petrol engines from uk of hiaces... but petrol hiace ingens are hard to find.. i cant make a full container

whats the price of 1RZ in peshawar?

I have heard second hand CNG kits are also available at cheaper rates in peshawar?

Well akif i wouldnt suggest you to go for a second hand CNG Kit.. since.. i guess lendirenzo is one of the best cng kits available and it is recommanded for vehicles from 600 cc to 2400 cc... (not sure though) so, considering it would be a 2.0l engine.. u shud go for a new cng kit...

yes man i know most of the hiace's are passenger vans i have seen many converted to petrol.. u can also get the diesel cng..not so common coz after conversion the vehicle doesn't run on diesel..
second hand kits are often stolen ones... so try not to buy those.. the landi renzo one will do just great

2L head cracks due to over heating only.. this van got over heated 4 months back when the radiator cap was mistakenly was missing... the engine stopped after overheating.... so negligence is the main cause behind the head failure... and u hav to be careful in such matters with a diesel.

the van has over 250K KM on its meter...

Engine overhauled... the complete kabli head alone costed 35K

another 10K for parts like piston... 1.8K Khradia... 3K mechanic etc etc etc

My advise to all owners of diesel engines....

IF you car gets overheated... Please change the head gasket no matter there is a problem or not.. will cost u only 1500 rupees.... a damaged head gasket will always lead to a head crack.

and donot let your diesel get overheated!

im thinking of making a buzzer circuit if temperature rises beyond the usual mark need a comparator i guess

IMHO getting an underpowered petrol engine for hiace is not a good idea. 2L or 3L are good choices. get 'kabli' one.

The best option is 3Y engine, its petrol engine espacially made for Hiace , easy to convert to CNG, and its cheap ,even you can get good engine for 60K

these engine are tooo costly these dayz.. exploiting the cng advantage... thats why i dropped the swap idea and overhauled the current engine.

Its the money thing i guess and also 1KZ is considered a mummy daddy engine among hiace community

i have seen people getting 1KZ out from a fresh imported Hiace before it is fitted with custom benches making it ready for the route
