Hiding Car's Number Plate

I just wanted to know whats the science in hiding car's number plate when posting its pictures on PakWheels? Some may say security issues, question is 'which secruity issues?'

Ive seen literally seen 50 cars having their number plates blurred or cleaned for some reason I cannot understand..

If everyone can see your car's number on the road, what will happen if everyone sees it on PakWheels? Doesn't make alot of sense to me.

its always good not to reveal too much i mean some ppl have privacy issues n in case of selling the car i think one shdnt give out the number once the deal has reached to some advance stage

ps its my personal opinion no one needs to agree with me but thats wta i think

Yes but doesn't make sense. I think people are just scared.. and as most of us Pakistani's don't know why we do, we do it because everyone does. May be that's why its just a conviction to hide the number plate for no reason.

So maybe everyone thinks they have to hide it because everyone does and may be they'll get themselves in a deep trouble if they don't take care of this privacy issue!!

u can trace the ride like that bmw s class etc where he go and where he from and who is the owner of the car so people r scared on pw to hide his #

I don't think you can trace someone just from the number plate, but even if you can, lets say we agree that you can do that, why can the same not happen when 10,000 people can see it everyday if its parked outside a sabzi shop? What makes PakWheels.com more vulnerable?

dude the thing is that gari ke number se ap owner ka Adress, name wagera trace kra saktein hain. maybe its not that common in Pakistan but in the world it is, in Pakistan theres CPLC nd its very easy to locate that.

Really baffles me too.... But you know... privacy! Even though i agree jis ne koi garbar waghaira kerni ho gi... he can even follow a car of the road directly to the house!! Makes no sense at all....

I have so far posted 3-4 ads of different vehicles and never hid the number ... but the last time while refreshing my ad i got this email from PW staff that your ad has not been approved due to some illegality in car picture. The only other visible thing in my car pic apart from my car were clothes(none objectionable ... :P) hanging in a distance on a wire for drying, so my guess was the number plate became the observation. Some older member may shed some more light otherwise I am of the same opinion as yours ... rather I would say it is better to show the number so that if someone wants to check registration detail before making an offer or coming over, he/she may do so conviniently. here are the objected photos of my car

Some people may hide the number because they do not want their colleagues and neibours to know that the car is for sale, in order to avoid requests for significant reduction the price.

lets assume that here i share my ride with you guys
you only know that this is qwertypoiu's ride but if the number is there and if some one wants to know who's this car is(my real identity) then with the car number he can trace me with in seconds without any problem.

its a open forum and any one can access info even ppl who are not registered as members so do you think that it is secure ?

What about the road where the naan wala, fruit wala, cycle puncture wala, lafantars, bums and all sort of people looking at your car while YOU ARE INSIDE.... hows that for privacy? :s

Atleast the people on this forum are educated and any one else who can access this site in Pakistan and then go on to search for a particular car... then go and trace the number through his own sources would rather be better off not doing it... because if he can do all this, why the hell would he want to cause damage to anyone? :s

Atleast in the pictures the car, the owner etc are not exposed And even if that was a problem... then people who might want to act dogdy would definitely attend a car show! Thats the best place to do or initiate hanky panky... do you cover you plates there too :s
