A little info about the bike before i begin ive driven it for around 20000 km the original spark plug has already been replaced at 12000 km with a standard one from the local market, air filter was changed once at 14000km.
So 2 months ago I noticed that my bike was consuming a lot of fuel, where on a full tank it would do above 500km it was barely reaching 400km and around that time my father was planning to go to Naran as well so i got the bike tuned hoping that it would fix the issue.
A few days after my Father came back from Naran at first it was working fine, there did not seem to be any problem and I hadnt driven it enough to know whether it consuming fuel alot or not, so anyway a few days after that the bike started turning off alot at idle and commuting through traffic was becoming more of a hassle than it usually is and the overall performance had dropped alot as well, the acceleration was not as usual and felt really heavy another thing i noticed was that whenever i would let go of the accelerator the rpm would drop a little bit then stop somewhere between 3-4k and then would drop to idle at which point the bike would turn off, this was not normal behaviour. Adjusting the rev did not make much of a difference.
The first thing I did was change the spark plug which was pretty worn out at this point and replaced it with an iridium one hoping it would at least fix the idle and fuel consumption.it did not. So i took it to New Emad autos where i bought the bike from and where i usually get the bike serviced from, the guy took one look at the spark plug and told me that it was consuming a lot of fuel and said the fuel mixture had been tempered, which to my knowledge was not touched by any one, he tuned the bike fixed the mixture and send me on my way, the bike ran fine for the next 2 days but then started causing same problems again, I went to emad again and this time the Ustaad over there told me he needed to check the carburetor and instructed his senior mechanic to do so , which he did and found out that the fuel jet was apprently dirty and cleaned it and sent me on my way again, and again it ran fine for 2 days and started causing the same problem afterwards,. So I researched on the internet and apparently lagging rpm and engine turning off at idle at the same time is a sign of an air vacuum leak and can be identified by blowing propane or spraying carb cleaner at the boots on either side of the carburetor , as they are the most likely culprits and if there is any change in the rpm when you blow on it then there is definitely a leak and they need to be changed, since i did not have propane tank or a carb cleaner i took it to emad to get it checked, i suggested what the problem might be, which they completely disregarded and instead checked the engine for any air leaks and not finding any they tuned the bike again and also suggested i change the spark plug, which i did just to humor them and told me to come back if the problem resurfaces. which it obiously did and i went back a week later afterwards and this time the ustaads son was there who instructed the senior mechanic to open the carburetor again and cleaned it and miraculously at least one problem did get fixed, the bike was not turning off although it was still consuming fuel a lot and the rpm hangs between 2-3k then drops down to normal and now sometimes it even starts rising up on its own which clearly means that the mixture is being interfered witha and the problem remains although performance wise it seems to be fine now.
So now my dilemma is what to do, IMO Emaad autos is simply not good enough, they are fine for normal maintenance but anything complicated and they dont seem to make any sense. Has anyone ever faced a problem similar to this and if you did what did you do and from where did you get it fixed.
