Assalam-o-alaikum,
This is my first post on PW forums. I recently came across the forums and found the hiking and trekking section which I really liked. I'm a nature lover myself and I love hiking and trekking. I've only done a few hiking trips so far, but I definitely plan to go for the big ones in the coming years inshaAllah.
Here's the story of one of the hikes I've done. It was the second time I went to Miranjani (First time was in snow, I'll share that story later). I usually go to these hiking trips with my cousin. He's an ex-SSG commando so he's REALLY fit mashaAllah, and I have to work really hard to keep up with his pace. This trip to Miranjani was also with him, and one of his friends also accompanied us (he's also an SSG commando).
It was late August. We decided to go on bikes; 2 CD-70s. We set off from Rawalpindi in the morning around 7-8AM on a Saturday morning. Took 2 stops on the way to Nathiagali. One for photos and other for tea (near Murree). We reached Nathiagali around 10:45AM. Parked the bikes near the hut at the base of the mountain (the guy there charged us some money for looking after our bikes). We started the hike a little before 11AM. The weather was really good, a cool breeze was blowing. Since I was with 2 commandos, I had to really give it my all to keep up with them. We only took one proper break in the hike where we sat down and drank some ilaichi wala paani and ate some biscuits. Rest of the way, we kept walking slowly but surely. We stopped for photographs in between, of course.
It took us 1h 30mins to reach the top! Yes, ONLY 90 minutes! showing off
We stayed at the top for about one and a half hours. Took photos. My cousin and his friend climbed up the famous Khamba. We opened up a fruit tin and drank some juices to boost up the energy levels. Took some more photos and came down. At the base of the mountain, someone told us about the waterfall further down the road. So we decided to have a look since we had a lot of time. But the waterfall turned out to be a disappointment for us, maybe because we expected it to be much more beautiful. We started our journey back and were back in Pindi around Maghrib.
The worth mentioning part of the trip was the bike journey. We really enjoyed the way on bikes. Especially on the return journey, riding on the slopes of Murree with the sun setting on the side was an amazing experience! And I now prefer travelling on bike to these places, coz it's much more fun and you can stop anywhere you want for photos or anything.
Hope you guys liked the thread. I recently visited Azad Kashmir (Tolipeer + Banjosa) and then Hiked up Ganga peak in another trip (that one was on bikes as well). I'll try to share their details as well, soon inshaAllah!
