my uncle asked me why his car doesn't give good average on long route, it is same as in city, i told him because he had never reset the mileage display. Told him to reset it before a journey to know exact mileage for that journey. he reset it and claimed now my car doesn't give good fuel average, shouldn't had messed with the mileage display.
In this case please have some empathy, because old relatives are from a pre-smartphone and personal computer/laptop era when most of the things including tuning a TV or radio was mechanical or analog. Explaining how an item works instead of how to get task A or B done works most of the time.
