My cousin asked me to source him the complete fuel assembly for his Toyota Fielder. The car was consuming excessive fuel. I asked him why.

He said: "mechanic ustaad keh raha hai ke mukamal fuel assembly badal diya karein har saal, gaari fresh ho jaati hai" (including fuel pump motor )

No checking of fuel trims and getting to so many components involved in an EFI, but just plain approach of changing the complete fuel assembly, that too every year.

He changed the piston rings and used some sort of Helper rings underneath them

The helper rings are nothing more than flex bands put underneath the oil ring expander.

Its not needed nowadays, the last cast iron spacer oil ring expander was used back in the 60s, thats where the “helper” ring is used.

Even then, they were installed on really hopeless engines which were known to burn up due to hotspots or hot running cylinders

Case 3:A guy went for brake oil change, mechanic after bleeding from front 2 wheels poured new brake oil, when asked about rear 2, he said " peechay sirf hand brake hoti h brakes front p hoti hain iss liay front se brake oil change hota"

Actual blunder is old one, but with a new case
2 days ago, fellow member went to Suzuki mini Motors lahore for periodic maintenance
He has October 2018 car, so his brake oil change was due as it had crossed 2 year mark
1st, the guys said there's no need to change brake oil it looks fine
I sent him periodic maintenance schedule so he showed that to mechanic so later on they agreed
What they did, just bleeding from front brakes and topped up, 100-150 ml
And later on said "bus front se hi hota h"
Unfortunately he didn't contact me and left dealership otherwise Phone p hi mere hathon Online qatal ho jana tha mechanics ka
That's just awareness post, beware of these dealerships
Mechanics working at dealerships are illiterate as in market, no difference
And regarding engine oil, recommended one is 0w20
And the guy on dealership was recommending 5w30 and 10w40 and regarding 0w20 "wo iss mein nai dalte"

I will not describe the complete scene, but the pic I am sharing is of a Cultus recently overhauled with more than 55000 rupees in parts and labor...

The car belongs to the Head of the department where I work, he asked me to check as he feels something is wrong with the suspension... I sat in the car started and said there is some stupid going on here... No bolts in the front engine mount... The idiot forgot to place the damn bolts... Result the rest of the bolts and mounts were so damaged..

And look and the condition not the thing does this look newly overhauled... I can't understand what the hell are these people sniffing...

Nothing can help if the bore is barreled or ovalled, needs to be rebored and honed out.
