Speaking of mazda cx9, its ford awd system is designed stupidly, its center diff lives near a cat converter that runs at 360c all the time, it cooks the oil into gel and finally tar, killing it, to add to the case, it has no drain hole either.
Mazda say to never change that oil, horseshit!!! My clients with cx9 have those transfer units with a drain hole in it, and it gets new oil every 3rd oil change (it holds 500ml only)
Similarly the spline drive that runs that case rusts out, its the same
Problem that shaft drive motorcycles had forever, its remedied by a brushing of moly paste on it, its actually a forever lube when applied properly, but no, dealer mechanics will only read the book, and nothing more. Forget best practices, or learned experiencesâŚ. Mazda and neither Ford never mentioned to apply any lube to the spline drive. (While ford actually have a spline grease for their pickup truck driveshafts)
Sometimes you want to smack the life out of such stupidity!
Ive had a mercedes w221 550 4matic in for a brake job, All new pagid parts went in, the front rotors that were installed on the car were actually smaller (from a 211 e class sport) - customer complaint was that it makes a grinding noise when braking.đ¤Ł
