Honda 1994 engine swap discussion

I am planning to buy civic 1994. I like the car so far. But engine is having smoke issues.

Some people suggest me to change the engine to d15b dual vtec.

My question 1 . how much total expense i should expect ? .

1. Taking civic with engine problems and then the engine yourself is a good idea anyway .?

My friends D15 engine in 2000 civic was weak so he replaced complete engine with D17 engine complete.Will ask him about cost tomorrow for u.

U can also rebuild stock engine

Yes, I agree with @aziz.rehan , Stock D15B is best. but if u want a fuel efficient engine, go for a d16
