i had to change my driving style to increase mileage plus as per manual tyre pressure should be at 32PSI where as BRV has 27 PSI in all four wheels i increased it to 32 PSI and fuel average improved.

Modern engine runs better on thin oil. 40,000 km is nothing for these engines.
World is moving to 0W-16 and 0W-8. And we are not ready to accept 0W-20.

Sorry Mr. Hasan, but i cannot mentally accept such thin oil. I have brought a BRV and currently using Honda Oil (whichever they put in ) but I will discuss with their maintenance manager after 30,000 km and if he is ready then switch to fatter oil.

Shearing force is the main point here. I usually go to north for holidays and car is run 75% of the time in low gears hence stressing the engine and causing wear and tear.

My reason for a good quality thicker oil.

however new cars have tighter clearances so you have to be careful to use such oil which goes easily in to all the crevasses

I will certainly not switch to 0 w 20 just to save 1 or 2 km per litre.

Just FYI, the thicker oil is bad for these engines. When an engine is designed around a certain oil, it's tested in all sorts of atmospheres. So there is less wear and tear in the recommended oil in comparison to thicker oil, because the thicker oil adds strain to the engine parts

Agree.. car should be run on recomended oil. Most of colleagues favor thin oil for reduced internal resistance and increase mileage. Thin oil like 0w20 become dangerous at high temp and load. As it can not provide protection against friction if environment temp is high.

This is totally a myth. Can you explain why toyota and Honda are moving towards 0W16?

I wonder why most cars in the middle east are running this oil flawlessly on vehicles having odos of 500k kms in the blistering heat with lunatics on board that push the car way past its limits. By your logic, those car should breakdown every day, but they do not, so please do a little research before jumping to conclusions

The best bet would be to use oil that is recommended by the car company.

anyways in my corolla 2008 model, toyota lahore put 20w50 in it themselves.

For new cars, obviously you are not going to put 20w 50 in it.

Regarding people in Saudi Arabia, they don't really care about their cars. They will run the car 10-15000 km on the same oil. Most of them do not even check the oil levels.

majority cars on the roads do not have proper tuning and are throwing raw petrol out of their exhausts, and one gets seriously ill on smelling them. This point is at extreme levels during Hajj. Because petrol is basically cheap over there people do not usually care about this point.

LOL. That's because new sn grade oils are able to run that long. I have a 10k kms drainage interval in my Corolla in Pakistan. You seriously need to study this to understand. If Saudis were so careless, their cars wouldn't have covered 500k kms without a rebuild, but again, you need to study up on it
