Honda CD200 or Suzuki GS 125/150

Dear Friends,

i've been thinking of buying either Honda CD200 or Suzuki 125/150. i love the Old class of Cd200 and its looks but dont know if its comparable to GS. If i buy cd200, i will have to maintain it regularly. On the other hand GS will not bug me for 2 3 years atleast.

kindly compare differences btw the two models and also advise to help me.

My heart is on CD200's side cause i can modify it however i want, but cannot ignore the qualities of GS aswell

both the bikes in question are of different classes, one is a 2 cylinder whereas the other a single cylinder. as far as maintaining a 200 is concerned I would beg to differ, If a bike is properly rebuilt with genuine quality bikes it will last you longer than yourb estimated time without any bugs. 175/185/200 engines are pretty solid and ever lasting machines, provided they are rebuilt properly once, with special emphasis given on the oil pump. all one would have to do to maintain them would be the usual oil/filter changes, which the same will be needed on the gs 150. I won't say the 200 is better than 150, that rather is a case of personal preferences, to each his own. faster ofcourse is the 200 without doubt.

If Maintenance is your first concern then go for GS-150, otherwise go for CD-200, the ride of CD-200 is worth all the "maintenance"

If you ask me, i ll take a Brand New Honda cg-125 (normal) over GS-150 any day

If u want daily ride than go for GS 125/150 bcoz even u use top qulaity parts for rebuliding CD 200 it will remains old & its performance wud be a question mark depending on ur luck & skills of Mechanic.
On the other hand Initial, running,maintenace cost & requirment of meaintenace would be higher for sure in case of CD 200 as compare to GS 125/150. As far as top speed is concern thier wud be hardly any diffrence in top speed of both bikes. BTW CD 200 has its own cllassic looks which make it diffrent from normal street bikes.
SO the conlusion is go for CD 200 if u want occasional or weekend ride.
& GS 150 is good if u want daily performer.

dear i had cd200 i sold it but now i hv gs150, cd200 parts r expensive n suzuki parts r expensive too ,in 200 most parts r from 125 (chain girari set brake paid air filter foam etc) n some parts from cd70(plugs handle katori bearings tank dhakan tappet scrue etc)
cd200 doing 35km in a litre gs150 doing 45 in a litre
jaha tak speed ki bat hai to cd200 is much faster than gs150 in ecceleration too.
cd200 ka engine overhaul karne ka buhut kharcha hai 20000 me ban jata hai kiyoo k sary parts japanese milty hain aur gs150 10000 me banjata hai engine
cd200 120km asani se cross karleti hai 145 tak bhagai hai aur suzuki gs 100 ya 110 tak bhagta hai kabhi kabhi jab slop ho to 120 tak ja sakta hai

My vote would go for the CD200. Honda is well known for producing the most reliable of machines as compared to other makers, plus Honda enjoys a market and a good name in our country. CD200 would be more fun, a good engine won't give you serious problems. GS150 would be good for a few years, say 3 or 4 bu then you would lament yourself for missing the chance of owning a CD200.
Choice is yours'.

Thankyou all for your well insight and replies, i have my mind turning towards CD200 as i am already a fan of the classics :D. can anybody give me the estimated costs of buying a CD200(engine overhaul required or not required prices). also its restoration costs to all the original parts.
Also i may require a contact to a very good CD200 expert mechanic if somebody knows one :D.

i know zahid he is nephew of saleem bhai ,there is an other shup mughal bhai shop he also deals in cd200 only
