For those of you who know what an overland trip is (i.e. taking the back roads to explore places less traveled, NOT to go off-roading and tackle muddy rocky paths), this is a question for you.
I know the ideal bike for this stuff is a BMW GS (but good luck finding one of these in Pakistan). What do you think about using a Honda CD70 or Honda CG125 for an overland trip?
I'm thinking it is do-able since these Honda bikes are so popular that anybody would be able to help me repair it if it breaks down in some distant village (I am not a bike mechanic). I'm not planning on going extremely difficult paths - if a local doesn't ride/drive that road, I won't.
Other than the larger engine, is there a difference between the CD70 v. CG125 for an overland trip. The only thing I found is the OHC engine is in the CD70, while the OHV engine is in the CG125. Based on the below link, the OHV engine was designed to withstand more abuse (less regular maintenance).

I know I could buy a cross-country bike, but there's an appeal of doing this on the CD70 or CG125 since it is the common man's bike. Just trying to determine how realistic this is - I see locals riding on dirt paths all the time! Thoughts?
