Hi all,
We have a 2016 Honda City 1.3 Automatic in the family. It has 30,000 km on it. Ever since around 24,000 km, I noticed that the engine started knocking under light acceleration (under 2,000 rpm). This was very sudden.
What have we done about the issue so far? Tried re-fueling from different stations, mainly DHA Y-Block PSO, Shell Gulberg near Mini Market roundabout, and that one station on Cavalry, with a mixture of HOBC, but to no avail. I have noticed that the fuel economy changes quite drastically from one station to another. For example, with a 50:50 mixture from PSO, we get around 11 kmpl, but the same ratio at Shell (with its V-Power for clarity) yields only 9 kmpl. There is no AC involved these days, mind you. The degree of knocking is consistent, however. Apart from this, we haven't done anything about the car.
Took it to Honda City Sales recently. They blamed the issue on poor fuel quality only. The thing is, I haven't heard of a similar issue from other 1.3 owners. No other City I've been in has exhibited this behavior (that may also depend on individual driving behavior). I want to know if anyone else has faced this issue?
