Thankyou for the response. My car's onboard average is displaying around 19.5-21 km/l these days, I think I can say it's otherwise healthy. I am just curious if i can and should switch to 5W-30;)
If there's a risk of oil reduction etc. I'd like to know if it is worth it to take the risk.
What would be the benefits, if any, of switching to 5W-30 at this point?
The disadvantages of continuing 10W-40?
Also, i came to know that my car's coolant has now transformed into water over the course of its lifetime i.e. 6th year ~150,000 kms) due to uninformed top-ups using water at the scheduled maintenances by Honda. I only see plain tap water in both the radiator and the reservoir bottle. It used to be green bluish for quite a long time. I've never replaced/flushed/serviced the coolant and the cooling system either till now.
Never faced any problem so far except one of the fan's sound became different, I suspected it to be the fan motor but it vanished after getting the car serviced with a few extra minutes cleaning the radiator and fans with air and water carefully.
Upon inspection I discovered weird bubbles/minor deposits inside the radiator with a minor tinge of rust.
What should i do to avoid anything going south in the future. What I have in mind is to simply get a cooling system flush and then a refill of 100% recommended coolant without further dilution. Would that suffice?
