Honda City 1998-2001 or Honda Civic 1998-1999 Vti

I am in search of a car of price around 4 to 5 lac.

I have noticed that
City 1998-1999 1500c neo is available in this price
Civic 1999-2000 Exi 1500cc is available in this price
Civic 1998-1999 Vti 1600cc is available in this price

Which car should i purchase and why, car will mainly be used for family use not for daily office use.

My preference is Civic 98-99 Vti is this the right choice ? new model city 2000-2001 in good condition is above 5 lac which is out of my range

any other options suggestions like 2004-2005 baleno ?

I would suggest a 1.5 Exi instead of the Vti. The Exi was cheaper when new and would be cheaper now as compared to the Vti. You can buy a better condition Exi compared to a Vti.

I also want to know that manual vs auto in civic exi and vti which will have better fuel average on cng and petrol

i was thinking to buy auto vti for easy driving but i have heard that auto has less fuel average ?

When buying an older vehicle it's usually best to buy a manual transmission equipped car. If complete maintenance history is available then an automatic transmission can be considered. In addition, our mechanics find it easier to install and maintain CNG in manual transmission cars.

Do not go for such old civics/citys as restoring a Honda will not be CHEAP...go for a carby cultus of 2006 or so and maintain it - dirt cheap to maintain and you will get a good car in 5...

Dont go for these hondas almost 20 years old.they are too old and very costly to maintain.i have vti 1996 and its a total tension.

just for knowledge i want to know that which engine model does 98 exi have and which engine model is in 98 vti are they efi or carby ? some one tols me that there is a d15b 3 stage vtec engine which car has that engine ?

Cultus recommendation is good as it will be cheap to maintain and i can find a clean car easily, as compare to civic i have seen 2 cars uptill now a 96vti and 96exi and sadly both requires alot of work almost of 75k to 100k but i saw these car in my area i will look in to other areas as well

But for family usage and keeping in mind the long drives between cities i am looking for car with boot.
City , Civic , Baleno , Corolla - My friend recommended me baleno as i will get 2003-2005 model in this range
