Honda City 2009 Model, Automatic, 1300cc
Background:
- Car was bought zero meter in Feb 2009. Got into a bad accident in 2011. The front of the car was rebuilt at Honda Fort. No problems till 2015.
- Uncle took it till Peshawar and engine problems started. Honda 3S thought it was bad fuel and Honda Fort Lahore fixed the issue.
- Average till then used to be around 14kmpl.
- Since 2017, average has been dropped significantly.
Work done since 2017:
- Engine Oil + Oil Filter + Air Filter after every 4000km from 2S/3S dealerships.
- Tires changed to standard (General Tires) in November 2019.
- Engine tuning with spark plugs changed, and throttle body cleanup and fuel pump and filter cleaned in December 2019 at Honda Fort (3S).
Current Situation:
- Average till start of September decreased further to 8.4kmpl on regular petrol. (I always fill up at PSO Company Operated Pump in Cavalry Ground Lahore and have done since 2017)
- Start of September 2020, I switched to euro 5 hi-octane as it was available, thinking it would resolve whatever problem I was facing and it would improve mileage.
- Have 6/10 tank of fuel left with 170km and don't know what difference the fuel would have till i fill up the tank the next time.
- Read that someone's City was giving a mileage of 16kmpl and decided to post this.
Issues I need Help With:
1) The car literally starts shaking when AC is on while the car is idling (like a person in the winters without a sweater)
2) The shaking started when i filled up fuel the last time. Could it be the effect of better Euro-5 Hi-octane?
3) It isn't as responsive in the first 2 gears as it is in later gears: if I push the gas pedal completely; the car shakes as if its trying to speed up but something is dampening the power and, 2 seconds later, it picks up speed (takes 4 seconds if AC is on). However, if i go slow and steady (till 2000 rpm), it works perfectly (even with AC).
In the third gear it becomes responsive and works normally like any other car.
Need suggestions to:
(i) improve mileage?
(ii) make it more responsive?
(iii) someone suggested to get O2 sensors and catalytic converter cleaned? If that's the problem, how much does cleanup cost and where can i get it done in Lahore?
(iv) I've done every other thing and cant think of what it could be; Any other ideas?
