Honda city 2011, engine sound has increased at higher RPMs,

I own Honda city 2011 with 92700km on odo. I recently switched from zic 10w40 to LM 5w30, car performance has improved but i have noticed engine is bit louder at >3rpm .i have completed 1000km on this grade and oil level is maintained. Should I be worried or does this mean there's inadequate lubrication?

If oil level is maintained then its fine, you shouldn’t however switch to a thinner oil after car has clocked almost a 100k kilometers, but in this case it’s not that bad i guess. I used to run 10-30 in my old car and as soon as i switched to 10-40 the engine went butter, smooth and noiseless, i guess if you don’t like the sound then change it back, or use a 5-40 instead!

Which one you recommend in 10w40? I'm not satisfied with zic 10w40.

Using a thinner oil does not mean that there is inadequete lubrication - City is designed for 30 grade oil.

The noise might have some other cause - valve clearance (tappets) should be checked at ~100k km anyways.

100k km isn't even close to a high mileage engine, and even if it was - that doesn't mean that you switch to a thicker grade oil just because of 'conventional wisdom" or hearsay. If 100k is high mileage, then my 400k driven ES1 must be ancient. I still use Honda or Total 5w-30 in it, depending on availability.

Does engine flush do any harm? Liquimoly dealer flushed it before pouring oil. It's not tappet sounds, engine is generally noisier and a bit rough too after i switched to liquimoly. May be its due to specific to LM. Next time I'll pour total 5w30 in it.
