Honda City 2011 ivtec reducing Engine oil

I have been using Honda City 2011 ivtec and its driven 91000 km, fully maintained by honda fort. just few days back when i checked the Engine Oil gauge it was touching the lower hole of the strip and it was only driven 2800km after the oil change. There is no smoke and no leake. Can any body help me whats going on with my car. i have little doubt on the Oil Honda is selling. I am using honda genuine oil S5 W30.

Are you sure the guy at honda fill the oil at its top level? Did you check oil level after chaninging oil while car was at cold state and leveled parked?

i didn't check the oil level after the guy at honda filled it. but on 30/11/16 in the moring at cold stat i checked the oil level it was at lower hole of the strip.i have studied little bit on the internet and some people say that some of the modern engines reduce oil is it true?

If your car really is eating up oil you cannot do anything unless it can be physically seen dripping outside the engine. nobody will be able to find out where the oil goes. You wont be able to see smoke immediately as the catalytic converters will block or convert the smoke. dealerships wont cooperate. mechanics will either advise not to open or if they open they ll not put it back properly.

you should top it up and see how much the consumption is (if there really is). Engine manuals say 1 litre per 4000 km or so is normal for an engine if there is no other prob. now that is a lot of oil. i often come across such topics where brand-new car buyers face this problems. feel sorry 4 them.

Change engine oil, make sure you fill it upto the upper mark. Check after each 500km that how much oil is reduced.

Own 05 Civic. 140k+ driven. Still using Caltex Fully Synthetic and it does not reduce at all. Even though i have a leaky sump and find a drop or two overnight but its not enough to drop level on dipstick within 6,000k.

Engines that do start consuming oil is almost always because of worn out rings. You don't always see the smoke while the oil is being consumed. My old 2002 city used to consume about a litre in 5k of Havoline formula 10W40. The engine lasted 200k (until i sold the car).

IMO never switch to a lower grade oil after 60-80k kms. The guy at dealership will always ask you to switch since your car is "old" . Don't do it. Stick to the fully synthetic.

on 25th i went to Honda fort for oil reduction issue , they checked thoroughly and found no leakage. one thing clearly they told that Honda cars since 2009 models reduce oil and its normal. as long as oil level is touching the lower hole of the dip strip its ok. so they told me not to worry. further they told me if you want to add oil to satisfy your mind you can do. i believe what they said because company manual also says that it can reduce up to 1 ltr.

Have seen this issue in 2013 city aswell 60k driven reduces oil alot

First thing first, check the PCV Valve.
If it is gone bad, replace it!
