ABS stands for anti-lock brake system... Its stops car's brake from locking... Meaning it won't let car slip

user doesn't have to maintain it and better not tinker with it!

Since you are new to ABS allow me to give you a suggestion. If god forbid something happens, keep a firm pressure on pedal and let abs do its work. pressing it suddenly and as far as you can does not makes the car stop especially when on slippery/bumps/gravel road. No matter how hard you press on it, the car keeps rolling so try to keep your control on it

It helps to keep the steering in control but ABS increases your braking distance in bad road conditions.

in your new car? why? genuine pads are not THAT expensive and in the end, you get what you pay for...
Don't let your new car near any road side mechanic. You don't need to do any sort of work on it NO TINKERING other then routine maintenance and check-ups which is covered in warranty for first 40k km (if i am not wrong)

Yes, really, on new car ? I think it will be at least 40K or 50K KM after which you will need pads replacement (may depend on the driving habit).

In a normal car without ABS, you press the brake completely and the tires will jam and thus car will slip and you will have no control over it. In a car with ABS, you press the brake completely but tires will not jam, thus you will have control over it and it will not slip.

If you are a rough driver then your pads will last atleast 60000km

And honda city only has front disk break thus after 60k km you will only need to change front pads.

And front pads maximum price from any 3s dealership is 6000 which is cheap.
So always use genuine pads.from 3s dealer.

I think someone is misguiding you he wants to take out your orignal pads and put old kabuli pads in your car

What's wrong with non genuine metallic pads? Those being sold as Nissin, for instance? Why spend 3 to 4 time more to get so called 'genuine'?

I once go to honda dealership to change my city 2012 pads genuine costed 6000rs

Then i go to reputed local dealer asked him for orignal city pads he gave me pads of some company like you say nissin i don't remember. They costed me 2000rs.
I bought them and curse honda dealership for so much fraud

But when i got them installed take car to gt road at 140 i applied hard break till 60 and then i felt some burning smell.

Then i again take car to 140 and apply breaks.and i fell car slightly irresponsive

Then the smell increases.Then idecided to make u turn but you wont belive i litterely have to stand up on break peadle to stop the car.

From then i decided to go for genuine pads.

When you can put 3000rs costed oil in your car after 5k km.
Why cant you put 6000rs cost pads after 60k km

You're talking about brake fade. Those must have been some really really trash quality- 800 waley brake pads- with little or no metal.

If you try to find semi-metallic pads, any old brand or made, that'd work well with your car. It's a consumable item mate, why spend more when there's no real world benefit in it.

brake fade also is related to bad brake fluid in the system, and please never apply hard n solid brakes on brand new pads unless you have burnished them in. Its a critical requirement for brake pads to be burnished and bed in before applying maximum brake force on them.

Assalamoalaykum all. I have city 2010. I had a bad experience with ABS breaks, when I suddenly put the breaks. But the car breaks made a grinding sound and I hit the other car in front damaging my front badly. Although my speed was hardly 50 km/hr. What seems to be the problem? Can anybody tell me?
