Mineral oils last less than Synthetic oils. Thereby, a mineral oil would follow an interval of 3,000 kms or a little higher while a synthetic oil can last up to 5,000-10,000 kms.
It solely depends on the oil and its manufacturer’s recommendation of that oil.
If you are using a synthetic oil in your car, then you can stretch it a little longer and change it after 8-10 months, if your running is low.
Be aware, that most oils, including synthetic oils attract moisture in them, the moisture gets higher as time goes on.
All oils have additives in them, they assist the engine against wear and tear, however, as time goes on, the additives inside the oil begin to lose their properties, which leads to faster engine tear with time.
Hence, it's said to change your oil as per your oil manufacturer’s recommended kilometers or 6 months (whichever comes first).
I hope that it is comprehensive.
