ABS has got NOTHING at ALL to do with the tyre size. ABS just senses that when the car is abt to skid. thats it. it can get activated at even 20 km/hr and it can NOT get activated at even 160....tyre size has nothing to do with ABS..and 2 percent difference is nothing at all.

and why not 195 ? cause there is no need. City is an economical car and 195 would affect the economy of the car as compared to 185. yes, i wud have had gone for 195 if the car had handling and braking issues, but even with the stock tyres, both are outstanding. in case of a corolla, i definitely would go for 195. i even agree with the stock size, but the problem is that Yokohama Advan db is not available in 175, thats why i m going for 185. as Advan db has less rolling resistance, is super quiet and is made of compound made for fuel economy, even its 185 wud be more economical than the stock 175. i mentioned somewhere in this post earlier, and i repeat here, that DO keep in mind that these are the tyres which are coming as stock with Toyota Prius Hybrid car, a car which is designed for the very purpose of attaining max fuel economy, and it comes with Advan db. so u can well imagine how gud these tyres must be. rest, ur choice

dear all.. thanx for all the info.. i was following the forum as a silent member...got a city booked in 1st week this january...though the produciton has started.. bt still on inquiry from people at honda centre, no certain time of delivery is given.. every week they give me a time line of 2 more weeks(PLUS THEIR RUDE ATTITUDE) ... whats the latest on delivery .. who is the last one to actually get a city from honda centre rwp...

my tentative date of delivery (verbal) is at the end of this month, which is followed by "....aur agar na milee tau june mein mil hee jaayay gee"

so in the end, the answer to ur question is "heaven only knows"

On ABS-equipped vehicles, all vehicle manufacturers recommend using the same size(by circumference & diameter).

ABS systems monitor the rotational speed of the tires through individual wheel speed sensors . Changing to an oversize tire with a taller diameter than stock would cause the tires to rotate at a slightly slower speed relative to vehicle speed than the stock tire. And ODO shows a lower reading than actual. Though the difference isn't much, it may be enough to upset the calibration of the ABS system and have an adverse effect on its ability to detect and prevent skids.

Staggering diameter will also confuse your ABS & EBD computer, tricking it into thinking that the slower-spinning big tires are on the verge of lockup.

Well, this question has been discussed on another thread (Probably, New Prices for Honda City), and it is likely that Honda City with beige interior and face lift (this is maybe) will be launched in august / September of this year.

Honda civic facelift will be launched in September/October and Honda city will get beige interior in July or august which is not too sure but its highly likely...not sure about city face-lift as they will launch civic face-lift first..my source is a friend in Honda...

Now my question is, as most of the brothers here are discussing and it seems changing the tyres does effect in a good way. I am also thinking to change my stock tyres for my city aspire..and i want to ask tyre size and brand on the basis of following thing from friends here

-Less Noise
-Less bumpy ride (i.e. due to Suspension), and the size should not effect suspension or abs in a negative sense
-Tyre Durability regarding our roads
-What will be the cost of new tyres and how much will be the price of stock tyres if not used at all or very less (i think its around 10-15k for stock and for new additional 20k-25k!)
- place from where i can get tyre in reasonable price in lahore and reasonable brand..

agreed. And thanx 4 da info. But googling tells us that the 3 percent allowance does cater for ABS related issues 2. Hence, as long as u r within 3 percent, u are perfectly safe

yokohama advan db. Stock wud get u 14k in lhr. New are 35k for 4. Difference, 21k in ur case

Yeah some tyre manufacturers do allow the plus sizing of 2-3% but lesser deviation is better.

Michelin energy savers or Yokohama advan db wud be th best option.

best size wud be 195/60 15 than 185/65 15

keep ready 20-22 k more for new tyres (if tyres are changed within 100kms).

Neela gumbad wud be most reasonable place for tyres (specially J. Rashid).
Though other gud shops are there at faisal twn n wahdat rd.

But i wud be updating u soon after my city's tyre change.
