Hello Experts,

I have City 2004 (140k driven), I bought it few months ago. Since first oil change, I am observing slight engine oil burning. I started with Havoline 10-30 then switched to 20-50 assuming that the oil burning might be solved with thick oil. But there is no difference, it comes down to one forth at 3000 km. I do not see any oil leakage and there is no smoke from exhaust.

Is this due to faulty rings or seals of the valves?

Can it be solved by switching to another oil manufacturer i.e. Honda Oil, Shell Or Zic? OR
Should I repair (overhaul) the engine (What is the approx. cost) I would appreciate if you could suggest a good mechanic in Isb/Rwp.

i also got the same issue with my City 2005(manual). i also used Havoline 10-30 initially, then switched to 20-50. however the issue is slight better with 20-50.

i recently made a full car tuneup + CNG kit service. my mechanic said that car is in perfect condition. he suggested the followings things:

• Change the oil @ 1000-1500 for 2-3 times.
• Use only 20-50 of any brand. I used Caltex Motor Oil
• Choose any suitable brand and use only the decided brand each time. never change oil brand each time.

I recently changes my oil. waiting for 1-2 more oil change. hope this will work.

bcz to save some money, beside i also learnt that all plugs come into play at certain time e.g like at cold start, acceleration and at high speed etc.

I have done more that 200km and fine.

its a very good average. what are u getting in city drive(with or without a/c)?

yes... one tail light, that too not the complete 2 pieces... only the portion with brake/parking/indicator lights... not the reverse light... i know 10k is too much for just that but i didnt want anything less then original...

yes sir inshallah... just one more piece has to be repainted n lights buffed n then i ll start the complete detailing process on the car...

i sent my insurance claim BEFORE the project vario thread started.but these god damn Honda 3s people here in sargodha dont like anyone being satisfied by their service.the guy who deals with the surveyors there was asking for extra commission from my insurance surveyor n the surveyor wasnt willing to pay n i was kept in dark as to what exactly is happening.otherwise, it would have been done more then a month ago...

well, the process, to be honest im not sure as i wasnt there with my car to witness it.but as far as i know.
first they dent out any places if required, then apply putty (puteen) then smooth it out many many times using high grade sand paper, then comes primer spray (which is what u see in the pix, the pink spray) then the primer is also sanded before it is finally painted.
then after waiting for a day or two, they sand down the paint with very high grade sand paper n then apply the compound polish...

and i thought my car was the only daily runner here with a schedule that starts at 7 and ends at 10, my car is in the same shape as urs due was before paintwork, not getting its fair share of respray due to the awami love for "jenwan" paint, sheesh the fools dont even know how to pronounce that word.

i do understand the awami love for "jenwan" paint but heck, who cares about it? i like my car nice n clean even if i have to get it repainted 10 times... will see what happens when i ll have to sell it...for now im keeping it n have to make it look nice..

My car is with me right now but its tooo dirty due to being parked at workshop for 2 days... went to a service station only to find out that to curb dengue, our govt. had no other option then to close down all of the service stations have to make an out-of-station trip in the evening and another one tomorrow... will wash it tonight and take pix tomorrow...

i might be wrong about the plugs change stuff but i dont really agree with ur "3S dealer only" policy.infact my own experience with 3s dealers has been toooo bad... u can find that in my earlier posts... the supervisors there advice people according to the user manual (which is not usually applicable because of the bad fuel/cng installed in the cars)
there is absolutely no need to change the brake oil fluid at 40,000kms while changing the transmission oil at that mileage is absolutely necessary.

as for mechanics, i ve found out that some of the open market mechanics are better then 3S dealers mechanics! my own car was maintained by honda 3s for 1 lakh kms, everytime i stepped into their facility, i walked out with a new issue until finally i stopped going there n visited a local mechanic who had good reputation.i can safely say, infact i can challange that hes the best person for all the new cars in my area.u can bring in any car, accord, camry prado LC or any other, he ll be able to fix it with any issues.

Dont just follow other n visit the 3S dealers JUST because they are 3S... kindly use ur observation, see if they really know the car better then ur road side mechanic, otherwise paying 7 times more then desi mechanic wont get u anywhere...!!! hope u get my point!

Your point is valid and I agree when the situation which you faced.
secondly about change of brake oil so upon your answer its coming in my mind its transmission oil (I will inform you on after next visit to honda or after seeing maintance schedule).
For new cars I still recomend for 3S dealer (company owned).

bro after the car is done you must come to lahore for a detailing session. you shud get sealant applied to it by the detailing gang, the paint will be uv protected and waxed for a year, and it will also have some resistance to light scratches:-# . ps the problem is that we dont care about genuine looks we want a nice car but when we go to sell the idiots prefer a rusty ugly car to a pretty repainted one

Its very expensive. 10,000 Rs for half tail light :-#
Do you have any idea how much the new City tail lights cost? More expensive than this or less?

i have a manual city 2010, n i have a querry about it....

if i rev the car while idle, the rpm dosent go beyond 4k rpm, its like it starts coughing there....

is this a problem or is there any sort of built in limiter???

Insurance of my City 2010 is going to be renewed on 4th October 2011. Before that, I want to do touch-ups on bumpers (few scratches look odd to me). Like ahmadbila does, i want my car to be perfectly new looking.

Went to Honda Idiots yesterday for this. Exactly, according to my expectations, they said both bumpers will be painted completed. buhahaha. and cost of Rs. 11,000/=. According to them, they apply something Lacker (for perfect matching and shine) on it after painting due to which they cannot paint a patch. I told those a**holes that in Rahimyar Khan i painted a small patch of it and if you are sons of your mother, identify that patch. They tried their level best looking at it from various angles and touching it, but as per my expectations they failed.

Purpose of the story is:
1. Honda guys are a**holes.
2. There is aboslutely no need of Lacker (if I am spelling it right).

Parts painted:-
Front and rear bumper
Left side fender front and rear
Both left side doors.

Right side is 100% original, all parts including the side view mirrors. now that u know which parts are painted and which are not, compare them and let me know ur opinions...

The rear right side door is the only part left for a repaint now, that too because of that small dent on it...
